A week in the NFL that actually looks pretty tame. Of course therealj stole my upset pick of the Raiders over the Vikes but it looks good from here other than maybe GB over Tampa. It's hard to think of last year's champs loosing 3 in a row but they aren't doing anything well right now. One thought I have about the league is how much of a coaches league it has become. The tallent level is so close from top to bottom, examples are the Raiders and Dallas. Last year Oakland rolls along and makes the Super Bowl while Dallas looked like a team in need of a major rebuilding. This year Dallas picks up Parcells who didn't even bring his usual gang of players with him and turned the team around. The difference between this year and last year is execution in all 3 major areas of the team, little things that other teams miss are huge issues with that man. Oakland on the other hand rode out last year on Gruden's playbook and wanted people to believe that he was not the genius he was implied to be...then came the Super Bowl. After that the coaching staff thought that it would be best to devise their own plan. With their pass only offence and changes to the defensive scheme, the once promising head coach and coordinators managed to alienate their team and cause an unbelieveable fall. The good thing for them (in a twisted way) is that they despise their coach so much that they will continue to fall apart and get a great draft pick, hopefully Tampa continues their free fall so that they can have the #1 and 2 picks in the draft, imagine that.

Parcells has done a good job , he always has his team ready to play and they are much improved but I'm getting tired of hearing what a "God" he is. Philly is going to win the Division and Dallas will struggle to hang on for a wildcard, they've been lucky this first half that's it LUCKY. They won a good one over the Giants I'll give them that, but aside from that they've beat an injured jets team, the cards, an injured philly team, the lions, the skins and the bills. How many of those teams are going to make the playoffs, better yet how many of those teams have a winning record, just one Philly and I'll bet anything Philly wins the rematch in the Vet. Dallas has the Pats,Panthers,Dolphins and Eagles in the next 4 weeks, pretty good chance they'll be 7-6. Oh and I'm really sick of the all the bullshit about how much better Quincy Carter is under Parcells, somebody please look at these numbers and tell me what the huge difference is

G Cmp Att Pct Yds Yds/Att TD Int 1st Sck Rtg
2002 DAL 7 125 221 56.6 1465 6.6 7 8 19 72.3
2003 DAL 9 150 266 56.4 1819 6.8 9 9 18 74.8

This week will be great due to the must win games for some teams. Only two things I would change with your picks. The Skins will beat the Panthers b/c they have too, and Spurrier and the team know it so he's made the right change-- not calling the plays. And the call me crazy pick of the week-- Bengals over the Chiefs. Does anyone think the Chiefs can go undefeated? Granted they don't have to play the toughest teams for the rest of the season except for Minnesota, but they still have a lot of games left and a perfect mark of 16-0 is tough to reach. The Bengals are the next toughest team to MN, and the Chiefs will lose both. 14-2.

Go pathetic Giants!!!

I was going to write all my reasons behind my picks like I did last week, but I didn't have the patience. If I had I would have noted that I was going to take the Bengals over the Chiefs but then Chad Johnson decided he would tell the world his bengals would win, so now my upset is no longer chic and the chiefs will have a little chip on their shoulders. If he would have just kept his mouth shut then maybe the bengals could have pulled a suprise out, now instead everyone in the football world is talking about his prediction and how good the bengals are playing...won't happen. And as far as the Chiefs remaining games you are forgetting their trip to Mile High to play the Broncos, who will still be a little banged up but will have Plummer back. If you remember back to their first meeting we wouldn't even be talking about the undefeated Chiefs if the broncos didn't kick to Hall in the 4th quarter, and don't even get me started on the two clipping calls the refs missed on that play(yes I'm a bronco fan). Skins don't win this week because they can't stop the run, something Carolina does very well, and you have to remember Spurrier let Davis go in February. The skins only have 930 yards rushing as a team this year, Davis has 992 alone and he's missed 1.5 games due to injury. Davis will get his revenge this week and probably 150 yards

Agreed, the Chad Johnson prediction was dumb and is the only thing that would stop me from making my own prediction, but I still think the Bengals will be the first team to beat them. I thought of the Broncos as one of the others but even with Plummer back I don't think the Broncos can do it because Broncos are a different team now who lost their rhythm from the 1st 4 games. Revenge would be sweet and the good thing is they will be playing at mile high, but it does depend on Plummer getting back to form over the next 3 games. Your next 3 games aren't that tough, so I think you can add 3 to the win column. Personally, I thought the Broncos picking up Plummer was the worst idea but he proved me wrong in the beginning of the season, so we will see if he proves me wrong again. Trust me, I know all about bad calls Giants-49ners last year . As far the skins- getting rid of Davis was flat out dumb, but I only pick 'em because it is a must win for them to stay alive, even if they are at Carolina and Davis wants to stick it to Spurrier. But I will probably lose this one because whenever I place a bet which is not often I lose, which is why I don't place bets often.

I've stopped betting for the simple fact that it takes way from my enjoyment of the games

J-

I had written something about your picks but erased it as not to jinx the remaining games of Jets, Bucs, Raiders, Hawks.

Raiders win!!! Raiders win!!! Stop it! All you are doing is killing your draft picks now. As for Denver, let's just hope that Jake doesn't brake his wrist opening the fridge or strain his hip while getting off the toilet or something.

That was my original post but I didn't want to ruin it before the last 4 games ended. I thought you were goin' 13-2. As I said in the deleted post- That was Blazin' You should have picked 'em for me this week-- I lost my shirt. But I did pick the Bengals. I BELIEVE!!!

Thanks pornosonic, be sure to keep adding to my football posts, there is nothing I love more than talking football. I should have sticked with my gut feeling on the bengals game like you did, you want to know what really makes me sick? I was originally writing a little blurb for my picks like I did the previous week (and will again this week) and stated that I thought the Texans would beat the Bills but I just didn't have the balls to pick them, lol. Anyway 13-3 will win you most office pools

therealj 13-3
Joe Theismann 8-7 (no pick for game he calls)
Merril Hoge 10-6
Sean Salisbury 11-5
Mark Schlereth 11-5
