I've been trying to find some kind of a PL competition to try my hand at. Joe suggested a push/pull. My best lift is my DL. My PR was 275 with straps. I started training raw during my competition prep and managed 245 - right before the diet took the wind outta my sails, lol.

I've never pushed myself on the bench because I never have a spot (which will have to change)... but my best was 135 for 6... again, right before the diet kicked my ass.

Kook sent me a link to the APA site and there's one in NH in October I could do. I guess my first question is - is the APA too lofty a goal for a first timer? Should I keep looking for a local, smaller competition first?

Also, I'm thinking if I can get my DL just over 300 and my bench just over 200, it would be a reasonable goal and I would be in a decent range for a female. Do you agree? (I currently weigh 175lbs)

I'm just trying to gather some advice to see if this is feasible. I've seen several great PLs over here so I figured this would be a good place to ask. TIA :)

Scott's meets are real laid back. It is a perfect first meet. I will be there :)

Is this the same meet Claire, JoeD and GT were talking about in my log (http://www.afboard.com/forum/womens-training-logs/819-scarletts-what-am-i-doing-wrong-log-2008-a-10.html#post263912)? The one in Orlando?

OMG. If you guys (CLAIRE!!) are all going to be there I'd want to come just to watch and hang out with some cool, strong meatheads!

Well the APF is the preferred federation by the greatest!! LOL!!

A meet is a meet and is doesn't matter what federation you lift in as long as you do the meet!! Just go and have fun and who really gives a dang how much you lift or how much you weigh!! Just enjoy!!

I will add though that you are NOT a powerlifter unless you do a full meet!! That's what powerlifting is; squat, bench and deadlift!! Bench only or Push/Pull meets are just for those who can't squat due to injury or are to damn lazy to squat!! SS, RB

Still need to think about it some... set up a new workout plan and whatnot.

We'll see what happens :)
