ok, i see people say all the time they add oats to their shakes. being a doomaas, is this that simple. place 1/2 cup uncooked oats into water and protien and ice and blend? or do you cook it first and then throw in blender or do they just mean they cook it and eat it along side the protien shake? hehe. thanks
I make oat powder/flour by putting dry oats in a food processor.

I put half a cup or a cup of raw oats in a shaker cup with my protein powder. No need to cook the oats.
Also, I usually let the protein powder and oats soak in water/milk for like 10 minutes in the shaker cup before I actually drink it. This makes the oats really soggy, so they go down the hatch a little smoother.
Hope this helps ... :dinner:

I chop up the oats in the little chopper/food processor attachment for my hand blender, then throw it in my shake.
I leave some smallish chunks. I find they help break up and clumps of protein.
Jag, I just thrown in a cup (54 grams) of Old fashion dry oats, 2 scoops of whey , 1 splenda and some almonds with 2cups water. Tase great to me! You get a quick complex carb prot anf good fat shake.

i just put them in raw. i also use steel cut oats. I like to let them soak up the chocolate whey before eating them.

nothing better and easier than a cold whey shake mixed with a cup of oats when your on the run!!
i like to let mine soak longer than 10mins though. an hour or so and it's just like you cooked them.
i've also cooked oats, and added them to tuna. i know it sounds gross, but mix tuna like you normally would, then add whatever amount of cooked oats to the tuna. bam!! you got lean protein and good complex carbs in a spoonable mixture. easy to eat in the car on the go.

Steel-cut oats are the shizniat!
They take a bit longer to cook, but they taste so much better. Once I'm done cooking em, I put em in some tupperware and bring them to work. Once I get to work, I mix in 2 scoops of protein powder and some water, and damn...I'm drooling thinking about it :D

add egg-whites, a touch of water, your oats, fiber, taurine, blend and drink. I've never let them soak, that takes too much time and I need to get to work ;)

I like to let mine sit a bit as well. I just dont like having to chew it otherwise. Much quicker going down if they've soaked.

well, dropped 1/4 cup steel oats into blender, it didn't work so well, alot of it got caught in the bottom of the blender, so i kept having to add water and swish it to drink it. it did give me some gas bloating, and it was all in the bottom of the cup so i kept adding water to eventually get it all out. i'm just gonna cook the shit from now on.

It would work a lot better if you just grinded the oats in a coffee grinder, you could play with the consistency by getting chunks or some kind of flour.
You could cook it too...

I think raw eggs can only get you sick if the come in contact with the outside of an unwashed eggshell. I believe that's how salmonella is transfered, not from the eggs themselves but the shell. When the eggs are cooked any transfer is killed from the heat.

Most carton egg whites are pasteurized so there's no health risk involved, it's not even an issue. It's just that you're only going to get 50% of its protein content digested...

I like the oatmeal uncooked and blended up. It reminds me of shredded wheat.

what about the heated debate over mixing carbs with fats?
I mentioned a while back @ EF that i had tried mixing ANPB with oats to add flavor. it tasted quite well but i was flamed for the most part about mixing the 2 of them.
any thoughts??

Personally, I don't do it unless I'm dousing olive oil on greens or my cheat day. But I know people that eat healthy fats in conjunction with complex carbohydrates, and it has shown no ill effects whatsover. If its working for you, go with it. But if you're in the middle of a cut, and you're at a plateau, try separating carbs and fats for a bit, as that may get you over the plateau.

i agree, i would limit my fats and carb mixture. if i'm eating a carb meal, i'll eat some steamed veggies with chicken. if i'm eating a fat meal, well evoo all over asparagus, bell peppers, jalapenos, some anpb or almonds, some chicken. eatin fat and carbs together i think promotes fat gain. might be fine for bulking, but not staying trim or cutting.
protien and fat OR protien n carbs.

why not a shake when cutting if it's 0 carb 0 fat only whey isolate? i can see no musclemilk while cutting. but are you saying no shake period while cutting?

ahhhh. yes, thats a recipe for bulking and adding fat. i don't think i'd even do that while bulking. my body seems to bloat and add fat so fucking easy. don't think i'll ever eat sugars again. just oats/pasta/rice/taters
