More craziness....frat hazing

Everyday Im more blown away by how people do the things they do. Pike is a well known, and good fraterntiy. I almost pledged pike but chose KA instead. What the hell were these boys thinking? I mean for God sake!!

Any other fraternity guys here? I know we got beat, sleep deprived, egged, made to eat disgusting stuff, bottle rockets shot at us, ran until we puked, but 3rd degree burns and pepper spray? Jesus....

Tulane Fraternity Suspended, 8 Arrested After 'Hell Night' Hazing Incident

NEW ORLEANS — Ten Tulane University fraternity members faced felony charges Wednesday and the school suspended Pi Kappa Alpha following accusations that the group burned pledges with hot water and pepper spray during a "hell night" initiation.

The fraternity members face felony battery charges — punishable by up to 15 years in prison — in an alleged hazing incident in which two pledges received second- and third-degree burns from boiling water and crab boil being poured on their bodies.

"The two students were treated at a local hospital for severe burns that occurred during the hazing," Officer Gary Flot, a New Orleans police spokesman, said in a news release.

A Tulane spokesman refused to comment on the allegations or the status of the students on Wednesday, but the school issued a news release saying it had suspended its chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and would investigate.

"This fraternity is no longer a recognized fraternity at Tulane," the school's news release said. "The university has zero tolerance for any type of hazing or other incident which can potentially endanger the well being of any student."

Eight of the fraternity members had turned themselves in to New Orleans police by Wednesday. They were booked with aggravated second-degree battery.

Two others were still being sought.

The pledges were scalded with hot crab boil and pepper spray late April 26 or early April 26 to see who could stand the most pain, Frank D'Amico Jr., an attorney for one of the victims, told WWL-TV.

D'Amico did not return calls from The Associated Press.

Two of the victims had second- and third-degree burns to various parts of the body and were treated at Touro Hospital. A Pi Kappa Alpha national spokesman said Wednesday the fraternity would have a statement later.

I despised Frats and Frat guys in my first run at college. The typical response from most Greeks was that I was just jealous of the guys and their abilities with the ladies... nothing could be further from the truth. Hearing stories from drunken frat guys revealing some of the ways they were hazed were disgusting. I couldn't believe that anyone would tolorate some of that bs.

yeah, we had tons of people that hated frat guys. they all lined up at our front door every weekend for our parties and bands and its where all the women were.

btw, hazing happens in the police academy, military, fire academy, sports teams, and to some degree on some jobs. So lets not make it like its jsut a frat thing.

I should have known it would turn into a frat bash fest and argument......whatever. Didnt any of you ever get taught if you dont have somethig positive to fucking say just shut the fuck up? Damn...it gets old.

Didnt cost me OR my parents a dime and I had plenty of parties to attend and ladies at the front door.

When I was a pledge we were never hazed physically but mentally very much so. Also, living in the frat house, including dues, was cheaper then living in campus housing which is part of the reason I did it.

Also, Pike has a pretty bad reputation for hazing here. A buddy of mine actually walked out of initiation because he didn't think it was worth it.

The hazing in the southern states always seems worse. When I rushed in my first college, a smaller southern school with a very large greek system, the pledging was far more brutal. Nothing overtly stupid though, just wore us out with exercise and the occasional keg kill. I left the school so I was never initiated, but when I pledged out in California I was like "this is it?". We got worked over from time to time but never brutally.

This however, crosses a line. I gotta think it was abject stupidity that created this situation... 2nd and 3rd degree burns? Who the fuck was heating the water? And to me, it's strange that it was Pike. At both my colleges, those guys were freakin terrible, lol.
