These are pics from May, 2007. My daughter and I were t-boned by a lady more concerned about beating the light than stopping for us on my Harley.

Sorry to hear that bro. How have your injuries, and your daughters injuries, healed over the last year?
I actually just took my bike (Hayabusa) out today for the first time this year. It infuriates me when I hear stories of idiots on the road who don't look for motorcycles.

Man that's f'ing lame....how are you and your daughter healing?
Was the lady brought up on charges? I hope so..

OMG. I hope you are both ok, or just a little beat up. That foot makes me cringe and I'm so sorry you both had to experience that. I do hope the lady is being held responsible.

Well, glad you are here with us a year later to tell about it.
Geez that is some scary shit. Glad you both are doing well now though.

She seems to have done wonders for your right foot. :D
Sorry, man, j/k. It's a fact of life that there are many people on the road who should not be there. When they run into a tree you can hope the tree is okay and be glad that there is one fewer of them to cause a driving incident. When they hit another driver it just sucks.
Glad you both survived.
Wow! Sorry that this happened, but glad that you are still here!
That royally sucks.... Like the others posted at least your alive... many don't survive those altercations with cagers.
One question though were you wearing protective gear (boots and jacket mainly)... You didn't post pictures of your head so I am assuming you had a helmet on.

Story time boys and girls. LOL!!
My daughter was fourteen, was wearing a helmet, boots but a tank top. She had a serious concussion, bad burns but otherwise unhurt. This is especially surprising considering that an off-duty EMT saw the whole thing. He said my daughter was car wheeled off the bike, went through the windshield head first then skidded down the road. The EMT turned to his wife and said "call 911, that little girl is dead."
I was NOT wearing a helmet, had on steel toed boots and a vest. I was pretty cut up on my arms and head but nothing to bad.
My left foot was crushed and for the first four days we didn't know hour to hour whether or not they were going to amputate the foot. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th metatarsels looked like potato chip crumbs.
A week after the accident I had a spot on the outside of my foot that was necrotic (dead) and turned gangrenous. They had to cut my foot and gut it by the toes. Going in to that surgery doc told me I may lose the front of my foot.
I was laid up for 4 months and then started therapy. The foot is full of arthritis but it is what it is.
I just hit 805 on squats the other day and am making my attempt to hit my 1,000 lb. squat either this fall or next spring.
I can walk, albeit with a limp, but am no good for long hauls. The grocery store is about all I can handle. My daughter is fully recovered but has some nasty scars on her beautiful little arms.
My bike, a 2006 HD Fatboy, was totalled. I ordered a 2007 Fatboy from my hospital bed the day after the accident. We still ride but with much more protective gear. All riders wear boots, helmet and leather. I don't care how hot it is that's the way we ride now. SS, RB

DAMN !!!
Lucky to be alive, and I bet you were tripping on your little girl getting hurt too!
Glad you guys made it okay.
I agree after 3 years in Europe were the only transpo I had was a Ducatti, I and anyone with me rides with boots, gloves, full leathers, spine protector and helmet, I also learned the hard way bro.
Take care

My initial thoughts as well just by those pics.
Dang.
Glad you guys are ok.
Blessed for sure. :rose:

Dang! I'm glad you two survived. And still being able to squat big weights, too.
Does your daughter still ride?

I wasn't going to guess at the extent of the damage - I've had some bone work on both my feet for nasty heridatary bunions so I know the impact of even small work on your feet.
The comeback is obviously powerful. I hope your daughter has no issues with all of this after the fact and moves on with her life.
When I saw that you are in Peoria I worried.. I used to live in Phoenix and particularly after a light rain, the water doesnt' go anywhere and the asphalt is like black ice. I've seen more than 1 motorcycle go under the back of a truck who pulled up short.
We still ride but with much more protective gear. All riders wear boots, helmet and leather. I don't care how hot it is that's the way we ride now. SS, RB
I agree with that.. people make fun of me all the time wearing the 30lbs leather jacket that I wear and gloves when its 90 out but road rash is no fun... Again I am glad to hear both of you are ok now. Have fun and ride safe.

I lived in Germany back in the early 80s. Everybody in Europe wore full leathers. Actually didn't look that bad. Stylish, once you got used to the look. Not to mention safer. I know more than a few fellow soldiers were converted.

Man, I'm just glad you both lived. When I hear someone on a bike was hit by a car, I immediately think the worse.

Damn Bull thats sucks. My father-in-law hit a downed tree around a curve 2 weeks after my wife and my wedding. He was ridding his 03' Road King. He was in ICU for a week and pretty fucked up for a couple months after. As soon as his insurance came in he bought a brand new Road King custom. He'll nevr give up ridding.

lol, I'm glad to hear the accident didn't stop you from riding again!
Do you feel like if you were wearing more gear that day that your injuries would have been less severe? You mentioned that you had on steel toed boots, but your feet seem to have taken the worst of it. What do you wear now on your feet when you ride?

If my daughter had her leathers on she would have had a concussion but no burns. Nothing would have protected my foot better. The only reason I have a foot is because I had on a steel toed boot. I bought another pair and wear steel toed boots still. SS, RB

gear usually does save people... You got very lucky with the helmet situation, but you know that.
Ive been in two accidents (not involving other vehicles, just me) one around 60mph and one at around 90... I never hit my head in either one, but the gear saved me otherwise. Second was on the track and I had on full leathers... I got up and was riding within 2 hours after getting my bike pieced back together :)
Im glad you both made it out relatively ok... Other people are the scariest part of riding a bike...

Im so sorry for you and your daughter.
That can be devastating for a girl to go through (scars). Ill say a few words towards you and especially her healing up and hopefully scar free.
Keep yr head up big guy.
A girlfriend (friend not like dating girlfriend) got in an accident that scarred her arm and she got 30 grand out of it.
Good luck.
