What the hell is icy hot and is it a good thing?

Because it is awesome and I love it! I have been walking a lot lately and sometimes my knees feel a little stiff, nothing major and I LOVE to put icy hot on before or sometimes after to loosen them up. Is this stuff good or bad? Im not using it to mask any debilitating pain.

Gotta say, I freakin love it too. When I first started running distances > 4mi a few months back my knees felt like total shit...I would rub that on before bed...Gotta love it, except for your sheets smelling like icy hot, ha.

Basically, the skin is being irritated and getting faster nuerons to travel to your brain before the pain nuerons get there, thus cutting off your brain from getting the pain nuerons.

It is the same if you bump your elbow or knee and you rub the area. The pain is not as bad.

My massage therapist and rehab person likes to use BioFreeze. I think it all has about the same uses. They use the BioFreeze in conjunction with my cortisone during ultrasound treatments.
