The problem with Ron Paul is that most people don't like his policies. We're not a small-government nation. No industrialized society is.

I actually like Ron Paul in many ways. He's authentic, devoted, creative, and brave.

I didn't mean to imply that the American people dislike ALL of his policies. But he is fundamentally a small-government guy. And that's not what this country is all about. Contrary to conservative propoganda, slightly more people, in most polls, favor an expanded government than favor a reduced one. And that's a good thing, because it brings us in line with the other industrialized societies.

Do you honestly believe that "the government's" penchant for storming into the homes of citizens and killing them outweighs the advantages of living in a civilized society, which is only possible at this stage of the development of our species under the aegis of a liberal democracy? What is this "government" that so terrorizes the citizenry? Where did it come from? From what is its power derived? Who controls it? Do you want to think about those things and play your rightful part in managing civil affairs, or would you rather pretend that "the government" is some alien force, some them vs. us thing, like the whackos out in Idaho somewhere.

It continues to amaze me that otherwise well-educated citizens ignore the very first words put on parchment to establish this grand experiment we call the United States. They were:

Im in complete agreement with B. You hear people talking about the "goverenment" coming into people's homes in the middle of the night. I see or hear or read nothing of this. Do you really not think it would make it into the media? The government is so transparent these days nothing, not even a fucking secret memo can be concealed, you think a major operation like that could be concealed? Come on.

To me, more important than the size of government or even the intrusiveness in the name of security of said government, should be the cost to operate said government, and who bears that load. If its truly "we the people" it seems to me to indicate an equal sharing of the load. This is where we have strayed from the founding. Rich vs. poor. Middle class vs. Upper Class. Its as old as civilization. And societies will pay and pay and pay, until such a time that they revolt, and refuse to be unfairly taxed any longer. We are a long way from there. I still see people living pretty nicely, despite high taxes and cost of living.

Thank you again for producing some wonderful info. You are correct. We the people doesn't mean anything anymore. When it was written long ago, yes the intentions were sound. Our founding fathers would be spinning in their graves if they saw how screwed up we are in this country. I don't know how in the world you defend anyone in the country. I really don't.
