Well I decided to start another log, a new log.

I am approximetly 2.5 months away from the Beast, which is on June 14th. I'm also tentatively thinking about competing at Washingtons strongest apple on June 7th.

I'm 4 weeks away from my first comp of the season which is on may 3rd.

So I basicly have to get my shit together in a hurry.

April 02.2008

Tire flips for Pain

3x550x25

Started doing these cause my cardio is hurrting and I need more strongman type conditioning. The tire is too light so most of these resemble a power clean. Will try to increase the number of sets and/or reps next week.

DL

225x8
315x5
405x5
495x3
585x1
635x1 belt on
675x0

I've been feeling bagged all this week. My bodyweight has hit a new low of 235-238lbs this week. Last week I hit that 675 but it was a very hard lock out, wish I had filmed it... I was shaking like a jackhammer above the knees. The good part is I feel quite confident with pulling up to the knees, so I'm really gonna focus on the lockout.

Front Squats

135x8
225x5
275x3
225x8
225x6

Just kinda playing around my knee was feeling kinda alright.

One handed barbell Clean, Press and Squat

3x25x8 per hand

My new training partner has me doing these, we use a barbell that is fixed with a pivoting sleeve on one end. One grasps the other end with one hand, palm facing out. Then you clean the bar, push press it, drop it back down to the chest and squat down and up... Thats one rep. I like! it involves speed, coordination and gets the ticker going... all great things for ogres like me.

Push up leading into a Vertical jump

3x10

The last two sets were supersetted with Lunges with a 10lb medicine ball moving side to side ~80ft The Pain!

Keg Walk and load

180/200/245 lbs x 20ft
180/200/245 lbs x 30ft
180/200/245 lbs x 40ft

Weights above are guestimates, only the 200lb is accurate. Preatty happy with these. The sets were quick, loading appears easier then the walk. We need more kegs!

Tire flip

5x980
4x980

Was warming up with the small tire and f-ed up my good forearm, by fliping with my arms as I tend to not use the leg to kick up the tire. Gonna use widr grip next time.

log
140x5
190x5
210x2
220x1
230x1
260x0

No confidence.

stones

230x5
230, 245, 260
340x0
340x0

My forearm was hating me by now and my concentration was gonne. The new stones 340/380/405 leave nasty marks on the forearms and inner bis. this sunday the were not healed from last time. So the pain was a factor plus maybe the kegs earler.

But I'm really choked about my performance today... I'm dicking around too much and cant get into the zone. Gotta stay focused.

get it together meat!(just joking) training looks good, could just be from all the weight loss, but you got 9weeks to work on it. Since I wont be a lightweight I want to see you kill it at the beast!

Jerk from the reack
135x5 x5
185x3
225x4 x3 x3 x3 x3 x3

Felt gooder then last wednesday (felt so crappy I could only get the bar up to just above eye level). Gotta work on speed and being "snappier".

Close grip pull-downs
150x12
170x8
200x8
200x8

Getting some discomfort from the left forearm.

Incline bench

185x10 x 8 x8

Dumbell Rows
85x12
95x12
105x12

Trying to find a good weight for Kroc rows

Cable press downs

3x110x12

Looks like a good training day there Meat. Keep up the good work. It's so weird for me to read that your jerk was only at eye level with that kind of weight, the week before. It just seems like such a short time ago you were pressing way, way, way more than that.

low calories and lack of focus where the culprit.

Keg load ~51"

180x5 x5

200x5 x5

245x5 x5

Got myself a new 3 stone platform and floor protection, which allows for quick unloading of stones/kegs. Hopefully no more craters. All quick sets.

225x5
315x5
405x5
495x5
585x3
675x1 belt
725x0
705x0

Was really tired all f-in week. I started night school on mondays which finishes at 10:15pm, and I start work at 630am. I was so sleepy before this workout but sucked it up and went anyways and the results sucked.

Bosu Ball squats/dl

BWx15
45x12
95x12

2x95x12 DL

Doing these to improve my ballance in the squat/dl since sometimes I don't squat/dl in a straight line.

As of yesterday I've been invited to compete in the Western Canadian's Championships which will be held on July 19th. Even though I will probably be the lightest competitior there I plan on bringing the fury, and see I how I stack up against some of the best heavy weights in Western Canada.

This is where I would post the events but somehow I cant copy and paste since some virus has killed that option on my computer.

Keg carry & load

180/200/245 x40' x50' x60'

Happy with these... all very fast. Need heavier kegs.

farmers
105 x220ft
205 x75ft
275 x75ft
335 x20ft PR

Maybe got 30ft total on the last one... but there were like 4-5 drops and a 30sec hold somewhere in that run too.

axle c&p

3x186x5

Taking these easy, I've been having a ton of trouble/pain with my forearms recently and such I dont want to aggrevate it.

Stones ~50"

230x5
285x3
340x2 RH hammy/glute twich
340x1

Again been having trouble with the forearm... RH forearm feel very "weak" in the elbow joint when lifting smaller stones, but not with the larger stones since some of the friction is transfered to the bicep (gots nice stone scars). Also I should remmeber to wear flat soled shoes when doing stones, as I have been wearing my oly shoes (since some of the movement resembles some oly lifts) but the more extreme angles of the heal dont se3em to mix well with heavy lifts.

980x3

245x5
245x7

250lb brute strength
275lb brute strength
305lb cylinders with low pick-up (made it about 30ft with the last implement.. then 3-4 more pick-ups for 10ft)

The cylinders are a very low pick-up and rubb on your legs leading to a premature loss of grip.

405x1 even bigger pr

So me , the gf and Asgradien are driving 1000km east tomorrow for our first comp of the season on May 3rd. The events are:

Progressive Log Medley
8" log - 220lbs
10" log - 245lbs
10" log - 270lbs
12" log -295lbs

No grip aids allowed except chalk. (I don't care if you use your belt to get the log to your chest, I'm only interested in how much you can press overhead, not what you can clean!) Elbow wraps are allowed but you are not allowed to WRAP your elbows, sleeves are permitted. A simple lockout is required.

Tire Flip for reps (if the weather does not cooperate and we have to do the entire comp inside, then the tire flip for reps will be used)
The weight of the tire is 980lbs and is approximately 5 1/2' tall. If you can pull 5 plates then you can flip this tire. Mind you, this tire will not let you do it easily hehe. Suits, sleeves, belts, briefs, wraps and chalk are allowed. Not tacky.

Progressive Farmer's Walk
250lb cylinders 80' (mid shin pick up)
275-280lb plate loaded tanks 60' (close to knee level pick up)
310lb cylinders (w/ 1 1/2 smooth handles) low pick up 40'.

Only chalk, sleeves, suits, briefs, and wraps are allowed no tacky.

Max Deadlift Standard Deadlift Bar. 2 athletes at a time (facing eachother):
Opening weight: 455lbs
495
545
565
585
605
625
645
665
685
705
ect...

Suits, wraps, STRAPS, belts, HITCHING and chalk are allowed. No tacky.

Loading Medley (if indoors)
probably 5 odd bojects weighing from 200lbs to 350lbs

medley (if outdoors:)
Farmer's for 50', load a couple of kegs (220,280 and 300)

Hopefully the weather will be nice 'cause I'd love to have the
Husafell stone carry (300-350lbs) for max distance.
