Default Congrats Joepalooka: Won His Weight Class! (Videos Are Here!)

Just poped in to say he won his weight class today (he was like 213lbs, with light dieting he could have entered 198's)with an easy bench of 550lbs.

(He won even with some sketchy judging due to the all of the judges and announcer being from the gym that put on the meet)

I have video of his lifts and I'll put them in later.

Hes got an easy 600+ in him, which we'll see at the Bench Bash For Cash coming up!

Great job Joe!

Are you going to 198 or stay at 220?

He made all of us very proud. He DOES have 600 and more in him. Lbs for lbs the strongest man I have ever met.

Congratulations again Joe.

Thanks everyone.

II, I am not sure yet. I know I can make weight at 198 but I just dont like dieting much.

I was going to take 585 for my third attempt but missed 550 on my second attempt so I took it again and it went up fairly easy. I left probably left 50 lbs on the bench Saturday but that is ok I will get it next time around. I will go into a smaller shirt for the next meet.

There really isn't much need to diet. There are some ways to lose water while watching your carbs the last few days before a meet. The most I ever lost in a week for a meet was 8lbs. There are other metods that many people have used to lose 15-20lbs and gained it back in a 24hr weigh in. I have some articles on how to do it if you are interested.

II, Sure I am interested I have a hard time with dropping weight correctly. I read what Matt K did on elitefts. Which would be more realistic for me to do.

I can loose 8 lbs pretty easy but its when I have to loose 16-17lbs to make weight at 198 then this may be pretty hard.

http://www.grapplearts.com/How-to-Cut-Weight.html

This is an article about fighter but most of the same ideas still apply to powerlifters.

This was written by Sam Byrd.
U can make that no problem if u have 24 hour weigh-in. i just dropped from 226 to 197 in a week. of that 218 to 197 was from weds to friday morning. i detailed all this in my trainning log.

First thing to do is decrease food volume. not really cals, just the volume of foods u eat. this will reduce intestinal bulk and be roughly 6-9 lbs. over 5-6 days.

the last week of meet increase water intake to 2 gallons or more of DISTILLED water. add taraxatone in on weds morning assuming u have a friday morn weigh-in.

carb deplete to 75-100g carbs tues and weds, thurs. keep foof bulk down, shakes blended with PB and fruit like berries, and trioplex bars is what i used.

close to 3 gallons on weds, cut off completely weds at midnight. thurs only 2 meals. one at 10am and the last 2pm. i used mints about every 3-4 hours to keep blood sugar up.

thurs morn u should wake up another 4lbs lighter. and keep dropping from pissing and not drinking water. only enough to take taraxatone.

from here u will want to do hot baths. fill the tub with water as hot as u can stand it. it should burn a little if u move around. sit in it submerged to head for 15-20 minutes at a time. alternate legs out of water with upperbody out of water to keep from getting too sick. naseua will set in quick, do not force it, u will get sick and might pass out. shallow breathing and rapid heartbeat will probably happen on ur first sit. dont try to fight it, get out then. u can always sit again. i sat for 15-20 minutes every couple hrs, about 2 hrs apart i think. it took me 3 sits thurs night, and one fri morn.

u will keep sweating for up to 30minutes after u get out. keep drying off. have a scale to monitor loss. u should lose about 2-3 pounds per sitting. i deally u want to be 3-4 poundsabove desired weight before going to sleep for the night. if u do get dizzy, have tose mints on hand to raise blood sugar.

if needed u can take a strong laxative like a bottle of magnessium citrate about 8pm. also have an enema kit in case there is not enough bulk to pass thru. they are easy to use and come premade. if u dont have a BM after 6 hrs do the enema, other u might get sick from all that sitting in ur colon.

wake up early and weigh. do hot bath if needed.

Ok, heres the video... The first attmept was 525, which he smoked. The second was 550 and I think he pulled his collar down too far and underestimated himself. He ended up fighting so hard to get it to touch that he was worn out fot the press and missed the lift (I didnt post that video). The next video is the thrid attempt, which is 550 and isnt a problem. If not for the collar thing, he would have put up 565 or 585 as a third attempt.
So sit back and enjoy my skilfull cinematography!

525lbs

550lbs

It wasnt a bad meet, but I think they were VERY unprofessional in the way they handled this. 2 of 3 judges and the announcer were members of the sponsor gym, and it was very obvious!
At one point one of their lifters struggled to lock out, and pretty much looked like he didnt and dumped it back into the rack, and as he dumped it the rear judge suddenly yells "rack."

Then the announcer would scream into the mic when their lifters went and cheer and say things like "good lift, he just entered the 500 club, nice work!" But when Joe or any of the few other guys went he sat back in his chair while they lifted and didnt say shit. Then when joe missed he said "well, that was a good try" and looked at one of his other guys and rolled his eyes.

Im telling you, they were fucking HEARTBROKEN that Joe took that weight class from them!

That sucks the meet was run like that. I have done meets were my teammates are the judges and they judge me more strict then the other lifters. They would NEVER give me a gift. They have even red lighted me without hesitation.

Joe, the shirt looks pretty loose. The 550 touched very easy. Great job but your not going to be a bench specialist, are you? LOL

Yes the shirt is loose. Matter of fact it goes on real easy. The support runs out about 2 board. I had to live with this since I purchased it and is the only shirt that I have that goes on.

I do plan on going back to doing everything. I plan on hitting a bench for cash meet in January depending on my training goes. I want to focus on my bench for a little while I intend on low to mid 600 for my next meet. Of course in a new tighter shirt. I will try to squeeze back into my 50 and see what goes. I will purchase a 52 rage x soon.

There was another guy in the 240's who broke the state record, and they were busting his balls on his first attempt, too. They red lighted him saying he wasnt steady when he touched... he is, of course, not one of "their guys" either.

The guy who put this meet on has run off a number of announcers and judges who didnt want to deal with him. He likes to std there while his guys lift, and if they dont give them the lift, he screams and yells at the judges about it... hes 5'7" and 430lbs, so they dont really want to scream back, lol.

So a bunch of his guys went and got their judge card, and that solves that.

Maybe Im remembering wrong, but I thought there was a dress code for judges? I thought they were supposed to be in the white polo judge shirt??? These guys were (I swear to god) wearing t-shirts with that gyms name on it!

Damn, this makes me want to lift so bad. But considering the bar weighs 45 and I'm not allowed to lift over 25, I would have to cut it in half and that would get my membership revoked I think. Plus no one would cheer me on for pressing up 2 ten lb. dumbells.

Way to go Joe! I hate homecookin' just as bad as anyone..so it's nice to see it get put in their face. You made it look professional which is even funnier because all they can do is look down and twiddle their toes cause they got it handed to them.

Thanks, Caligula and Archie. I don't mind being under scrutiny and judged a little more strict this just makes it all more worth it in my mind. I will try my best to be over 600lbs the next meet I do.

Archie the bench for cash at the end of January.
