This girl asked me this question via email, but I don't have an answer for her. She's in great shape and runs a few miles per day. Anyone?

Got a question for you and thought you'd be best to ask since you are a work out fanatic ! lol........why do some people sweat like crazy when they do cardio and some don't really? When I run, I sweat like a pig ! I'm totally drenched, I have sweat driplets running down my legs and arms......but when my sister runs on the treadmill next to me, she doesn't break a sweat like I do at all !!! I thought that the more you sweat, the less in shape you are and the less you sweat means you are more in shape....Is that so ? How could that be ? I feel like I'm totally out of shape because I sweat like a man when I do cardio !?!?!

not sure if this is the correct answer but everyone has a different amount of sweat glands....i for one get absolutely drenched doing the stairs. my friend on the other hand hardly breaks a sweat and i'm def in better shape

Sweating in this circumstance just means your body is working well at keeping itself cool. It's a good thing.

Sweat is your bodies natural air conditioning. When your brain senses a increase in body temp you start to sweat. They just haven't raised their body temps enough to trigger the brain to turn the sweat glands "on".

I read somewhere that the better shape a person is in the more he/she sweats, but the sweat has less salt and toxins in it since everything gets "cleaned" out right away, so even with more sweat there is less body odor.
these are not facts I can back up, just typing something Ive seen a few times.

another thing might be that she drinks more h2o then her sister, if don't drink enough water I start sweating a lot for a while after I re-hydrate.

I am not a heavy sweater but I do sweat more when I do super dooper intense cardio or take spinning. Or mostly when doing legs... I don't really sweat when lifting other body parts unless I do drop sets.. strange :D

I too sweat like hell while workout.

IT is cos of our body's mechanism to maintain the normal temperature.. Generally for some people the body temperature rises easily and to bring it back to normal the body starts sweating.. So dont worry about sweating..

One more reason..

If you are sweating much then you are providing enough water to your body.. If some one does not provide enough water to his body daily then the body stays in adaptation mode and tries to save water inside skin and muscle in order to avoid muscle cramps.. but when it has abundant of water it does not store it and you can be tension free about water retention and bloated looks

Tell her she's a lean, mean, efficient cooling machine :p

Some people are just sweatier than others but I think it's typical to sweat more when in better condition.
