Remember, you cannot really spot reduce. You can do all the ab exercises you want, including ones for the obliques, and if your BF is to high, then you won't see a thing. Get your nutrition and cardio in order.
Look at my pics under that section. No ab exerices in several months for those pics.
Although, I have recently added them cuz I was feeling guilty.

Cardio and diet is in place. I went from 297 to 278 in less than 2 weeks. .. This has just always been a problem area for me. Its more lower back fat than love handles. Are there any other techniques besides dumbell sidebends that I can do to get rid of them. Im not realy taking any supps right now except an eca because im a broke ass college student. I will be starting 40 mgs anavar in the middle of march though

I am not trying to be an ass, but diet and cardio will take care of them in time. Think of it this way - if someone asked "How do I get rid of the fat on my pecs, what exercises should I do." What would you tell them? My spot is my low abs, always the last to go. At 278, I am guessing you have some BF on you.
If you wanted to hit the abs and obliques, I would do thera-ball (swiss ball) crunches, side crunches on the ball, reverse crunches, side cruch with a slight twist on the back extension device, cable crunches, cable crunches to side.
There are so many ab exercises out there. Paul Check has many. Try hitting up www.testosterone.net (http://www.testosterone.net) for some pics on how to do some of the exercises.

I understand your not trying to be an ass. I also understand that diet and cardio will take care of it. I am only looking for techniques to do that will help get rid of them faster. I just dont feel right with lifting, diet, and cardio. I feel guilty after 3 hours of working out in a day and only spending 20 minutes tops on my problem area. thnx for the response killer....

Unless you’re an athlete, doing specific exercises for the obliques is the stupidest idea ever know to man.

Killer's pics tell the story. The guy knows about getting lean.
Diet and cardio are the only things really. You should work your abs so you can keep a strong core, but it will not 'spot reduce' the area.
Obliques grow like traps do. They get larger very quickly. That is why some powerlifters that have a lower bodyfat appear to have a large belly. The weights they use to squat thickens the midsection and obliques. Side bends and rotation exercises with a bar are pretty good for powerlifters, but we as BB want to keep that area smaller. I would lay off the side bends. Side crunches can help tighten them up, but will not help you spot reduce.
If you are just looking to help reduce that area slightly, the yohimburn at the af store is something to look into.
Nothing but diet and cardio will help that area. Fat is removed from the body in that area last.

Vox - that wasn't politically correct http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif but true.
Anyone else get sore in the obliques and serratus when doing military presses?
drk - your obliques are getting a lot of work just from stabilizing your torso during free weight exercises.

No, but I go behind my head.

Ulter,
So, you go behind the head with a barbell? Any particular reason?
I ask because virtually all of us do not have the flexibility to get into the behind the neck position (shoulder abducted and externally rotated) and have to crane the neck forward, which causes stress on the cervical vertabrae. Also, that position can cause rotator cuff problems.

I do behind the head shoulder presses in a smith, no lower than an inch above the top of my ear or the bar hitting the back of my head.

Vox...I have heard others talk about that range of motion behind the head, but personally I don't like it. My feeling is that military presses and chins should be done to the front to not stress the shoulder and cuffs. Even if more muscle growth occured (which I don't think it does) going to the front, it wouldn't do me any good with a messed up shoulder.
Have you ever seen people doing pull downs behind the head while pulling their neck forward? That just looks painful! Be careful with your neck Ulter.
Again Vox...I know people that do that motion with no pain.....I ain't one of 'em.

I use the smith and yes I go behind my head. I can't go down as far anymore as I used to but the bar is just past the middle of the back of my head. I do have to lean my head forward if the pad is on the bar but not if I take it off. I don't usually take it off because I hit myself in the head on the first rep until I get positioned. LOL!!! But sometime Ursula will take it off and I am too lazy to put it back on. I used to go all the way past my head.
Yes CG, that is the exercise that causes the most pain. I usually have to leave my arms in the air after the last rep of a set ( I finish at the top and hook the smith) and bring them down very slowly.
I can't do my seated pull downs behind my head though.

Ahh...I love that feeling. Nothing like the feeling of your joints exploding in pain after you let go of the bar.

I've never really heard of juice giving a person love handles, but more that their diet wasn't in place. Love handles are a bodyfat issue and the only way they can be dealt with is by cadrio and by the proper diet.
