My legs have done really well this summer and fall up to last week I noticed a dull ache in both sides of my hips. I only feel this during squats, deads, or leg press.
This pain is preventing me to go at it hard. Has anyone had/heard of this? What to do??

It's hard to pinpoint something without watching you train. I don't really know your bodytype, structure or how you train or if you have anything that might be a physical problem. That being said:
I am curious if when you squat or do leg press if your knees spead out when you press up with the weight. Usually that could mean that your leg abductors are weak...which is where it sounds like you are getting pain from. If this is the case, use your leg abductor machine (The ones you see the girls using....Your legs are pushing against weight to spread them apart). This should strengthen that area up.
Again, I can't tell you for sure b/c there are a lot of variables that it could be.
Take Good Care,

i agree with cg, i had weak abductors, my knees would actually come inward, so i had to resort to that machine, and felt like a puss, but i must say after a couple months, no more pain and a lot more weight and reps. The only other thing i can mention is make sure you get a good warmup and stretch before legs. that will help loosen you up and also prevent any further injuries.

My leg press stance is about shoulder width as is my deadlift stance. Squats, my legs are spread out and go down to parallel.
I wonder why hip flexors would be acting up now? I've been doing legs for four years and no trouble.

Can you give us a little more info?
Where exactly does it hurt on your hip? Is it the outer side (as you said) or the front (hip flexor as you also said)? Can you palpate the area and feel any pain? Any previous injuries to the area or legs before? How is your flexibility? Does it always hurt both legs at the same time? Same spot in both legs?

Actually I was able to complete a set of squats today, but did not feel up to another set since the pain was going to settle in. I noticed discomfort in my hips (outer, its always been out to answer your question) while walking upstairs.
When I push down on the area it does not bother me. Only when lifting wieghts. No previous injuries. I'm OK in the flexable dept. I play tennis if that helps and that means I can shift myself around pretty good. It basically happens in both legs and same area. I think it may gradually be getting better since I stay away from too much leg work. Maybe another weeks rest? We shall see.

Latest update, I'm slowly getting back into the game. All leg work much improved. I just need time to heal as I backed off a bit. Must have been an over use thing.
