how many of you would consider yourselves naturally strong--and by this i mean from day 1 you have always been able to lift more then your friends--the only exercise i need to work on was benching everything else i was able to do what most people thought was a lot of weight for a guy my size

If you feel that the Control Substance Act of 1990, which makes it illegal to have anabolic steroids, is unfair----PLEASE, write your areas government representative to repeal or change the laws that make AS and AS related products illegal.

In junior high and high school they always used to bet me I couldn't bench this or O/H press that. I alsways did (not that I was so great or something, they just always underestimated me and I knew my limits).

And the betting or daring ocurred... not in a nice way...

When I was growing up, I did alot of manual labor helping my relatives out. Stuff like cuttin down trees and loading logs, carrying cement bags and wheelin the wheelbarrow...etc, etc.

Then I worked as a stock manager for 4 years in highschool and was always lifing shit.

Once I got into lifting, I was able to start out heavier...like benching 135lb for the first time I ever really benched...etc where as my friends were way behind me and still are. Then again, weightlifting isnt a big thing where I come from though.

I am weak by nature. My physiology is paradoxical. I have more leg speed and better reaction time than anyone I know of, but I have to work my ass off to get strong. you'd think fast-twitch=strength, but I dont know if thats true.

I blame it all on the damn basketball players and track runners in my family!

When I started out, I was one of the weaker few of my friends. But, by my senior year (high school) my totals were the second on the football team, probally first if bodyweight (realtive strength) was taken into consideration.

I was a monster when I first started lifting at 17. 5'9 1/2 and weighed 121lbs. I could bench a whopping 75 lbs. People were afraid of me...

I have always been strong compared to everyday individuals. But in the body building world, I am only naturally strong in legs. Now, comparing myself to friends and workout partner, I am stronger in most lifts. However in comparing my lifts at my size and weight with others on this board, I fear I would rank low on the totem poll. I started working out later than most everyone and have made nice gains, especially in changing my body structure. I don't really workout for strength or to compete. I workout to visually transform my body into the best it can be to me, visually. It sounds like a cheesy commercial for something but it is my motivation.

i had the highest 3 lift total in my high school (1100 kids) for the squat, bench, and powerclean, and i weighed 185-190. looking back at my yearbooks from jr high, everyone made references to "buff", "mr universe", and "arnold"....so i guess i've always been stronger... /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gifLOL

You guys make me sick. jk Naturally strong jeesh!

The reason I got into weight lifting was because I was so weak.

You guys with natural strenght should be bending down kissing and worshiping the ground you walk on.

Do you detect a hint of jealousy in my words. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I think I had a natural aptitude for building strength and speed, but not for posessing it naturally. By 17 I was one of the stronger guys in my gym, but at 14 when I started training I could only bench 90lbs for 8 reps, at a bodyweight of about 135.

Its a cookbook! Its a cookbook!!!

I was average I guess. Average being I was not as strong as the line in football. I seemed to be strong for my weight but I was pretty skinny at 17 I was 5'8" and 135 pounds. :/

Putting on strength has become more difficult than I ever imagined when I was younger. I can say that this has been one of those rolling hills... up down up down up down, a roller coaster of strength and never getting anywhere near where I want to be.

My damn forearms do most of the work; therefore thay are not quite proportioned to the rest of me. I have small hands so maybe that has something to do with it. My grip strength sucks on anything wider than those really cheapo dumbells that you buy at Kmart /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Oh, an answer to your question? No /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I would not consider myself naturaly strong.

no, not at all. i first started lifting at age 23 or so weighing 150 lbs. after 5 years and very little as help, i was 192, having squatted 490 and dead-lifted 535 in competition at 181lbs-the bench was dismal...at age 49 i weighed a fat 260 with 19-7/8 inch arms, and benched 275 for 17 reps (not too strong for an old guy weighing that much)...now at age 51, i'm 225-230 and looking better with some abs coming back after all these years- getting my chest, shoulders and arms back up, and feeling good just taking chrysin, trib, and some weird 7-methoxy (ipriflavone) stuff...pretty humorous, eh??
