Default It WILL get better.

I found that physical activity helped alot. This may sound crazy, but everytime I wanted to smoke, I ran around the block.
I was a bitch, suicidal etc for a long time but now it's been a year and 4 months. It is so wonderful not to be a slave to those damn things!!!
You can do it. If I did, anyone can. I smoked for longer than most people on this board have been alive!!
PS Have you asked your DR. about Wellbutrin?

Listen to her! The endorphin release from exercise will blunt the cravings!!
And the Wellbutrin is a godsent! Its another name for Paxil and it will ease the cravings and more importantly it can address the "obsessive/compulsive" habit that you get from smoking (the whole "hands" issue)

Best of luck to you! You'll never regret quitting!

Four members of my family, including my sister who smoked for 30 years and tried everything to quit, used zyban and have never gone back to smoking. I used the run around the block method myself 12 years ago, worked for me.

Day 6...
Funny you mention that lobo......The money that I save from smoking I'm going on a cycle of primo and t3.
When I crave for that smoke I'm doing that run around the block thing....it's working good so far.

Default Wellbutrin and Zyban are the same thing.....

Wellbutrin and Zyban have basically the same composition, so you could use whichever your Doc likes to prescribe, or more importantly...whichever your insurance pays for!

Default It will get easier.

I know this doesn't really help, as I have been there, in a very BIG way, but it does get easier.
It is the hardest thing you will do, but also the most rewarding.
My vascularity is quite excellent now. People remark on it every day. I like that!!!

Today is day 11 and I'll have to admit it is getting easier! I'm amazed at the energy I have and my cardio is doing awesome. For the first time ever, I was able to run for 35 min without having to stop for a break....So now I'm doing that in the morning and at night, I'm addicted.
I never did cardio this morning though , my legs were to sore from my leg workout.

You have actually passed the truly physically addicted part-nocotine withdrawels, the rest is the mental crutch. I smoked for many years and it took about 10 days to get over the sluggish crabby feeling. That is the nicotine addiction.

Next came the what to do after eating, while driving, on the phone, sex...errr skip that one cause I alway fell asleep, LOL...

Anyway, the rest is the mental part. I remember waking up after dreaming of sneaking a cigarette, and thinking I had blown it...many times. Then one day I realized that I started saying no in my dreams, that was cool. After that it was down hill all the way!!

My wife worked for a guy that was a hypnotist at that time. He said that the dreams are good and not to sweat them too much. It is the conscious and sub-conscious mind reconciling their differences. Not sure if it was BS or real, but he was right about the dreams helping to deal with quitting.

Just think, your mouth no longer smells and tastes like the bottom of an ashtray!!! Yaaaaaaeh for you!!!

First of all, congratulations for taking the biggest step for your health that you could possibly take. That alone is something to be proud of.

I quit about 4 months ago after smoking for 6 years and it wasn't as hard as I though. I didn't get any of the food cravings that everyone complains about...when I got the cigarette cravings I would carry around straws and stick them between my fingers...hells...i can even put those in my mouth if it got down to it...Anyway, I'm sure you'll do great and again, congrats!
