Default blood tests

I have a question that I hope someone knows about, my friend works at a place where they have to do blood work done all the time to check the radiation in their blood stream, anways his blood cells die before they can check his blood. They have tried this 3 times so far. He has never had this problem before he started using "supplements"...Any help on this would be helpful...

Hmmm, sounds more like a collection and preservative problem. The blood cells are usually 'dead' for most of the standard chemical analysis. The bottom of the specemine collection tubes contain different chemicals and preservatives to keep the blood from clotting or drying up. If they mishandle the specimines (direct sun, heat, or freezing for example) that will affect sample quality.

Is it possible that there is some confusion about the problem?

It's actually not an uncommon problem in cytogenetic analysis. Some peoples white cells just don't grow well in tissue culture. Age is one factor (older folk's cells grow less well) and immune status is another factor (ie low WBC). Or as BigEasy said it could be a collection/handling problem. But it's usually nothing to worry about.
