my name is blueyedkowgrl and i am a foodaholic...
ok it all started with a little piece of mozzarella and ended with 2 good humor strawberry shortcake ice cream bars (not too mention all the other little bits of food i had in between).....i was doing sooo well, down 9 lbs my pants are loose in all the proper places, i have sadly lost a cup size but oh well i did have a bit to spare. and of course i go and screw it up.. it never fails but i will say that this is NOT going to happen again, i am really paying for it today, i feel like sh**. i guess my body isn't used to all that crap. I got back in the saddle this morning and dragged my sorry a** out of bed at 4:45 this morning to go to the gym. i should be good for the next 6 weeks until i leave for florida on vacation. and when i am there i will try to be a good girl too. I certainly don't want to feel like this on my very first vacation alone in 6 years!! |

It's good for the soul to confess, or so I am told. I do it too. You can only go so long and then your mind just flips and you start eating stuff you wouldn't eat even on your worst days all at once. Last time I did it was Mother's Day. After pounding the lunch buffet I had the key lime pie, chocolate cake, cheesecake, ice cream, and pixies. Two hours later when I got home I thought my heart was going to pound through my chest like the alien. We all do it, just look at the Monster Vacation Menu. The last thing I saw anything eat that much had tusks. But hey we burn it up in a couple of days. You got up and hit the gym at 4:45AM. Most people wouldn't think twice about spending the next day on the couch, while giving serious consideration to that 2lb bag of chips and 2 liter Pepsi in the fridge.

yeah they say it's good for the soul so i figured maybe it would be good for the thighs too!! I had to hit the gym i felt huge after all that stuff. I didn't feel like turning a bad binge day into a bad binge week which is what would have happened if i didn't do something good and fast!!

Here comes my deep dark secret
A couple of weeks ago we went out with some friends, I had a really bad day so I thought what will a shot of Crown hurt, well 1 turned into 12 and three should have knocked my butt in the dirt so how I did 12 and still functioned pretty well is a mystery to me but two days later I was retaining so much water even my eyes were swollen. Considering that I am in the middle of an anavar cycle I think I should get the official "STUPID" award! |

Yep Blue and the scary thing was I didn't feel a thing until I got to the beer....Upright and slightly buzzed because I think my body is so not used to sugar that it just sucked the coke right in and kept me sharp...Yikes!!!! and they were not wimpy drinks either! The beer dropped me like a rock course I had the beer for desert after the chocolate cake...... |

I thought it was just in my head that I felt like crap after a binge - but Temple - I feel exactly like you described after eating a heap of carbs, and especially alcohol as well, the puffy eyes and everything.
I always try and look back and I think that before I was into all this bb stuff and would drink, I never felt so bad afterwards. Makes me crazy and makes the guilt worse. I'm just glad I'm not alone. |

okay, so I'm still a smartass.
I'm still really light on the gym trying to establish some level of homeostasis in this left shoulder. (looks like a hyper-pissy supraspanatus) Just hockey twice a week, and in spite of todays trip to the chiro to relocate 4 ribs following last weeks game, I'm resting well. My diet is somewhat back to normal and frequently involves a packet of crunch donuts out of the vending machine. No benging. No inclination to binge: in fact ....does anyone remember "pushing the envelope"? Well it would appear that the problem revolves around her endocrine system shutting down. So even though the proper amounts of TSH, etc. are being produced it does not cause the desired effect. ...all steming from Food Alergies! The doctor is hinting at a vegetarian diet and I seem to be the only one really interested in jumping on the wagon. I can still curl 40's on my infrequent visits to the gym, and although smaller in the shoulders still look good. oh, and ... you don't need to work legs if you take up hockey. thick waiste, solid glutts and tight hams. So my messsage... lighten up and quit taking yourselves so seriously! |

I don't want it to sound like I am giving license here, but the carb-out and overfeed will actually help you lose MORE in the long run.
You know that our BMR will slow down after a few days of consecutive calorie deficit dieting. Thus, our bodies get stingy with the fuel and try to hang onto every extra calorie. The 5-8 small lean meals a day help minimize this but after a week or so (everybody is STILL different) you will still go into what I call Fat Conservation Mode. You can avoid that by purposefully overfeeding one or two days every so often. NOW, that does not mean eat the WHOLE BAG OF OREOs. But if you have a craving, indulge yourself. Keep an eye on the calories, especially carbs if you are sensitive like we are. I have used this method for about eight months and have averaged ten lbs a month. There is a growing body of evidence that supports this method of food cycling. The discovery of the leptin (sic?) hormone and it's mechanism have opened the door to advanced nutrional weight loss. One of my customers is working on a simple lab test (far from ready that will allow more accurate determination of your bodies state of nutritional conservation. When complete it should allow daily testing to see when you need to change cycle and have a "cheat" day. That will be so cool because we won't have as many plateu's. So don't beat yourself up too much. You actually probably helped yourself shift back into a higer BMR and increased fat burning potential. BE

What can I say? I'm just a suck-up. Actually I've been here lurking for quite a while. Just couldn't stand to see a lady self-flagellate like that. LOL!

BEKG,
Just to make a point, when you "get back on the wagon," so to speak, tell us how your weight-loss does. I will wager that if you look at weight before caloric increase, immediate post, and three weeks post, you will see some impressive losses. The only thing that seems to wreak havoc with this is the monthly cycle. But even that smooths out over about three months. Mind you, you have to be 'good' for at least 6-10 days between caloric/carb 'upticks'(doesn't that sound much more trivial than CHEAT?) and your workouts need to be on target too. To keep focused, look at a two or three week window of total caloric intake versus output and make sure that you are still deficit the appropriate % for your goals. I do believe that over time our bodies will get used to even this pattern. So changes will probably frequently be necessary to avoid long-term plateus. [Maybe a tradional caloric/carb rotation plus overfeeding superset/rotation?] Eurika! The Caloric Rotation Rotation Diet Plan!!! (Courtesy of the department of double-redundancy.) Yeah, yeah thats it! Market it with some cheap protein and MRP powders for & 129.95 per month on soap-opera tele. You know, like the fat chick that does the talk shows and thay grey haired guy with all the 'different' people. It'll make a mint! BE P.S. Bwaaaahaaaaa. Can you tell the Mrs. isn't around today?

Geesh I've been trying to tell these ladies for years that you've got to incorporate regular high carb/low fat refeedings when you're dieting to keep things ticking over. Would they listen to me?? No, they keep beating themselves up everytime they fall off the wagon rather than having regularly scheduled breaks from the wagon. I think it's a female thing....we like to feel guilty about stuff?? I dunno, but I would advise that you keep the fat intake pretty low on these 'binges', so it's not an all out free for all like IGs pizza thing (though one or 2 pizza binges a month won't hurt you too much either). Like greyvulf said, lighten up.
