Default Back from the dermatologist!!

If y'all don't see one you really should - one that is into the cosmetic applications. Today I had MAJOR laser work done and right now I look like somebody just punched me on each side of my face. The reason for this is that I had little red spider veins right where you apply your blush on each cheek and it was getting really bad and unattractive. I have had it done before but it kept coming back so today she told me if I was up to the recovery she would do the whole upper cheek solid and deep and would get it all. I am black and blue and horribly swollen but this should be the end of it once it heals. We also started the laser hair removal - it wasn't bad, a little worse that getting a tattoo except the upper lip by the nose. I was going to wait until after my cycle but she gave me a great deal on four treatments, one every six weeks so it will carry me way past cycle. I asked for Botox but she prefers collagen injections because of the amount of time that they last so we did the test inject today. I also came out with a really large sample of freckle fading cream. There is just nothing that woman can't fix! I should be a new woman within a couple of months!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and I now know how people with facial deformities feel, this looks very unattractive but you can't tell what it is and I spent the whole day with people staring at me but trying to look like they weren't.

Default Get the Botox!

Don't let her talk you out of the Botox. She must not have any experience with it. The collegen is a waste of time. It lasts about a month. The Botox lasts 5-6 months. They are really very different applications.
The Botox will make those lines and wrinkes as smooth as a babies butt. The collegen is used like Bondo. They try to fill the cracks. Doesn't last or work very well.
Find someone else who does alot of Botox. I promise you, you will love it!!

I may rethink this then - she told me I would get maybe 3 months out of the botox but 9-12 out of the collagen. She said there was another doc in her office that would do the botox if I really wanted it and the reason that she doesn't do it is because she feels the risk of paralyzation moving to one eye and causing drooping is too great.
If I looked good last night it was nothing compared to this morning, my right eye is swollen so much I am having trouble seeing out of it and I am a vibtant deep purple - I look a whole lot like Barney.

Temple - how much does the laser hair removal HURT? I'm going in Monday afternoon for my first lasering of armpits and bikini area. Should I pack a flask of spirits and take a wee nip to numb the pain? I used to do that before getting my legs waxed, and it helped a lot.

Get the Botox. It's my best friend. Your first treatment should last 3-4 months. After you've had a few treatments (to the same area) it starts lasting longer because those muscles get weaker from disuse, because the Botox paralyzes them. It takes about a week for it to take full effect, but it's miraculous.

My dermatologist is a friend of the doctor who pioneered using Botox for wrinkles. She's an opthamologist (Opts have been using Botox many years for certain eye problems) and she told him "I haven't frowned in 8 years"

OK Temple, I've been considering this laser hair removal for a long time now and am really wanting to get it soooo bad. I dont have a major hair problem because my any facial hair that I have is blondish but its more than what I want to be there, ya know? So I'd probably get my whole face done, upper lip, cheeks, chin, etc... Is it just going to take 4 treatments for you then its gone?
What about after the first treatment, does it grow back and you'd have to shave it or something?
How long in between treatments? And what is it costing and for exactly what are they doing?

Sorry so many questions but I really want to compare prices to around here to see what is good/bad.

Thanks!

Pain??? Well... they did the deep lasering first and that was like getting snapped in the face with a stiff rubber band over and over again so I think the endorphins were really kicked in by the time we got to the hair part. It was a little worse than getting a tattoo but I slept thru the second session of having that done. Facial hair removal I would say no prob, it goes sooooo fast that nippin' the bottle is not necessary, the upper lip right under the nose brought me off the table but it was only two bad zaps. The bikini area and underarms I'm thinking is gonna hurt. It shouldn't take over 15 min to do it though.
AJ - the laser may not work on your facial hair, it has to be dark in order for the laser to see it so if it is really light you may have a problem. I would go talk to them about it.

What are you gals paying for the Botox? The collagen thing is going to cost about $500 which I think is a little steep.

We should really live closer! We could have had crown and cokes then had the botox done together! I too was told the botox is better all the way around since coll. just fills in the lines and botox makes it where you don't accumulate more lines! I love my botox and will be having more!!!Forever probably! I also have a couple of little broken capillaries on my nose I need to have injected with saline soon! I know the doc I use charges approx. 200.00 for botox.

Congrats isn't it a thrill! What vanity will make you do!

Okay - that's it, I'm insisting on a botox referral!!!! I think if we lived closer we might fall into the Crown and never crawl back out and if we had some donuts to go with it it would even be better!!! Have you ever considered doing the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally? Somehow Tn I can see you functioning very well there!!! We'll just give you some leather and turn ya loose!!!

Default Botox! Botox!

I pay $250. I love it!! My Doc requires 2 people to do it. Ask around. There are plenty of Dr's doing it. Ask your Otolarangologist (Ear, Nose & Throat Doc). Most of them are doing it too!

Was that the per treatment price Lobo and how many times have you had it done? Also, that patch of hair on your lower lats...have you always had it or is it something you acquired as you got older. The DH never had a hairy back until the last couple of years and now he has quite a patch on his lower lats as well.

I wax my husbands legs, armpits, arms and stomach every spring then he shaves the rest of the summer and Fall. It takes about 2hours to do it! I do wax his eyebrows once every 3-4 wks! He is just now use to it!

I wax myself and that is hard to do! I would love to have my bikini line lasered. What would it run?
I think I will ck into that on Monday. I mean lasered off in 1 treatment not the needle thingy that takes forever!

TN - how do you deal with the in between growth from the waxes? It's hard to hide and wait until the hair grows long enough to wax! What kind of at home wax are you using?

I use a salon waxer at home. I only wait until the hair is 1/4 inch long and the wax will grab it if done properly.

Blast! I left my flask at home - still thinking about making a pit stop at the ABC store before my appointment. I just know any zapping in the bikini area is going to hurt - shaving that is bad enough! They say people need several treatments with the laser, because all the hairs aren't on the same growth cycle, or something like that.

Laser hair removal supposedly only works on dark hair, so if it's blonde or gray, I don't think it will work. I have that blonde peach fuzz on my face too. I just shave it once a week - no trouble at all. I remember learning about that from a top makeup artist, who is very beautiful and young-looking. Said she's been doing it forever. Not having that peach fuzz really makes makeup go on smoothly, and the shaving exfoliates the face - just be careful not to get razor nicks!

My doctor charges @200 for the botox.

That back lasor was $500 for ONE fricking session. And I think doing gear has made my "patches" bigger. But then age could also play a roll.

I think I'm just going to shave - or rather have the wife do it as I just can't justify that much money. Hell, it's not THAT bad. And compaired to the rest of my family (Italian), I'm "hairless"!

Lobo - you have to have three sessions or it is a waste of $$$ as you have hairs that grow at different rates and only 1/3 of them are above the skin at any given time.
Now for my face, by Sat my eyes were swollen about half shut and there was extensive bruising. I have had this done before but never to the extent that they did it this time. Previously it has taken at least three weeks for me to begin to look human again. It will be one week tomorrow and all the swelling is gone and I only have faint red spots where they lasered - accelerated healing by Anavar or a properly nourished body working as it should?????

OK, Now I'M back from the derm!! First session of hair removal - NO problem! Barely EVEN felt it!

I kept thinking, why didn't I do this SOONER? They gave me this numbing cream that had to soak in for an hour, so I didn't feel a thing. Every now and then she hit a spot I hadn't put any creme on, and it stung a little but that's all. I bought a 3 session package and go back in about 8 weeks.

Fitfossil -

But what happens in between that 8 week period when the hairs are growing back!?????? Do you have to shave them and do they come in darker and thicker?
