Default post workout meals

They say timing is everything...but I'm confused on this one. Right now I'm working out first thing in the morning. So I get up 4:30am, slurp down some protein/flax and head to the gym. Post work out (sometimes immediately after, sometimes after shower etc) I'll have 1/2c high fiber cereal, protein poweder and some skim milk.

Next week I'm starting to train in the evenings (around 6pm or so) with a gal who is going to kick my rear! (wohooo - hopefully we like working out together) But my confusion is in one voice saying "little carbs in the evening" and the other voice saying "replenish your depleted body". Am I missing something important if I DON'T have that immediate post workout snack? Or if I just go home and eat "dinner" is that okay? Am I hindering my fat loss if I do eat the post workout meal?

Opinions would be much appreciated...

Carbohydrates directly after a workout are less likely to be converted to fat. I would personally still have a moderately high carb meal no matter what time it was after working out. You body needs to replenish it's muscle and liver glycogen stores before any of the carbohydrates will be stored as fat. So I don't think that you would get any "fatter" by eating your post-workout meal after 6pm...

Yeah have your carbs/protein after your workout. Just reduce you carbs in all your other meals throughout the day so it all adds up the same.

Feed the machine. I think night time workouts are the best. You workoutrd, eat a solid meal, and then SLEEP. Of course, if your like me, you wake up around 2:00 and slam a protein drink.

Lobo STOP putting even more ideas in my head...sheesh!

Working out in the evening for me is like working out at 5am for most people. This will definately be interesting and certainly get me out of my comfort zone.

Ditto on all that....I usually workout in the evenings, and unless I am dieting for a shoot or show I will consume either a high protein high carb meal or drink post workout.
