Well, Im back from the doctor regarding my hand. This was my first time with this doctor, so I didnt know what to expect from him. I was VERY suprised and pleased to have a doctor (for the first time in my entire life) suggest an herbal alternative! That is a FIRST for me! Damn!
Oh, and here is some thing that can only be appreciated by all of you. Getting my blood pressure checked, and the cuff wont fit my arm! Heh heh. They had to go looing for a bigger cuff! Wheeeee! Oh oh, and shes weighing me, and Im in HEAVEN as she keeps sliding the counter weight down... further... further... FURTHER!!! 263.5 lbs! WoooHooo! I just needed to share ----------------------- "Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy" "My existance is a ripple through time"

I hope you don't play that "steamroller" game with your wife where you roll back and forth across the bed with her giggling underneath you!

I tried... she wasnt giggling!
Many a night, shes awakened to find herself trapped under the weight of my leg alone! ----------------------- "Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy" "My existance is a ripple through time"

Im trying to outweight my wife by 3 times... almost there!
But really, Im so impressed by this doctor recommending an herbal remedy?!?! Ive been to a lot of doctors, and theyve all been pretty closed minded to alternative therapies... Im pretty pleased. ----------------------- "Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy" "My existance is a ripple through time"

Well, all in all it might be a more "traditional" non traditional... he suggested glucosamine sulfate as an alternative to anti-inflamatories (for osteoarthritis). 4,000mg a day for 6 weeks, then 1500mg a week for maintainance.
He said he perfers it to anti-inflam. drugs in a lot of elderly patients, since they may have stomach trouble with asprins and ibuprofins, ect. Its a first time thing for me, I was impressed. ----------------------- "Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy" "My existance is a ripple through time"

Excellent! DH and I have had great luck with the glucosamine/chondroiton combo. His knees and shoulders are wrecked from doing lots of carpet laying when he was younger.
I like the stuff. ----- Those who dare to fail miserably, can achieve greatly. - R.F. Kennedy

Yeah, Im hoping to see some good results. He put me on Celebrex to deal with the deteriorated cartilage and CTS, Im hoping the glucosamine will be the icing on the cake.
Carpetlaying? That wasnt a euphamism was it? ----------------------- "Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy" "My existance is a ripple through time"

I have the same problem and FINALLY have found total relief with Vioxx. I don,t take them all the time, as recommended, but just when the weather really hurts my hands. Then, one is plenty, till the next bout.
And this tread is becoming a riot. Love the SteamRoller visual. And I remember that giant calf in a pic on Elite. I was also wondering the same thing about the carpet laying. Laying, munching, whatever..... |

IMO glucosamine will fix anything!!! 6 months ago I couldn't do squats or lunges because my knee was so tore up from running and my MD was talking surgery. I stopped running as started taking the stuff and am having 0 problems even on squats. It takes time for it to start to work so don't get frustrated. What I know of Vioxx is that it works great but can really tear up your stomach so you have to watch it.
