Default Saw Palmetto?

I had read on another board about Saw Palmetto helping if you are experiencing hair loss!

I'm not; but I was wondering if anyone knew about this and how does it work?

Default saw palmetto

Well, I cannot answer your exact question simply because I have never heard of it being used for that purpose----saw palmetto is most commonly used by men who have enlarged prostates----it inhibits the conversion of testosterone to DHT---
this somehow effects the prostate negatively....
There was once a belief that s.p. could be used as a bodybuilding aid----it was found to block estrogen from bonding to receptor sites---however, in studies, it was also found to block testosterone from those sites as well....

Maybe someone else may have some insite on your hair loss q.

Test converts to DHT. DHT in your scalp causes you to lose your hair. Saw palmetto blocks the conversion and the receptors from DHT. The study that showed it also blocks test from the receptors was conducted in Saudi Arabia several years ago (17 as I remember) and after reading it I found it to be flawed in several areas. Anabolic Minister (one of our most knowledgable biochem bros) concurs with this after reading the copy I sent him. I use it and trust me, it does not block test from hitting the receptors or I wouldn't have put on 25lbs of LBM in 4 months. On a very low test diet. And it halted my hair loss using 640mg/day split.

New research points that hair loss may be due to insulin resistance.
