What do you guys and gals like to do the week before the meet?

I just do a very light bench on Tuesday and some pushdowns to keep the blood flowing. I feel this helps me from getting to stiff. I try and ice whatever is sore. I try and keep my protein intake up, get my vitamins and drink plenty of water. I also try and do as little as possible lol

i dont have any first hand experience but id suggest not to burn yrself out worrying or excessively visualizing until meet day.
and id definitely save the psyche for the meet. all the research suggests this is key, not to burn out getting fired up before its needed.

about like yourself. Just kind of hitting it extremely easy in the gym, getting metally prepared/focused, etc. ..about the only time I'll be BSing with other guys in the gym.

Couple light restoration workouts to get the blood flowing. I find it helps me get ready for meet day. Taking a whole week off seems to build up some cobwebs in me, so I can't do it before a meet. Try to find anything and everything that pisses me off and let it build up inside me all week.

I stay completely out of the gym for a full 7-9 days before the meet. I'll still do some cardio, ice, hot tub, eat cleaner and prepare mentally.

Timely topic, as I have my first meet coming up in April, and some good tips here.

Ray, when you say clean, do reduce total calories or just replace the bad calories with more good, ie. replace bad carbs with oatmeal, brown rice, etc?

I used something in 2007 that i found worked tremendously well. I would love to see someone preparing for a PL just give it a shot (maybe ill have kara do it next month). I went 1 day before a competition and did Power Snatches and Split Jerks, both for 4 sets of doubles. The weight was kept at just 135, and the idea behind it is to give the CNS a bit of a "jump". It has been used in other sports with success, and by me with success, but im not sure about it's efficacy in a geared PL setting. Thoughts?

Hmm... actually sounds like a plan, My training partner who competes in Strongman, 2 days before a show will hit the big 3 squat bench dead 315 3sets of 5, says he likes to go in with an all around tight feeling, seems to work for him.
