I grew an inch this year. I just under six feet tall now. Maybe all the pull-ups?

Okay. I'm walking around at 195, my heaviest walk around weight ever. Maybe 8 percent now? Its hard to tell because although I have a little layer of fat my muscles seem denser now, so everything is still visible, i.e. serratus, intercostals, etc. I'm thirty eight years old.

I have been out of the gym for many many months, relying strictly on walking, pull-ups, push-ups and crunches for my workout. Which means I am out of shape. I just went into the gym Monday to get a feel for where I am.

I had a hard time getting ten reps with 225 on the bench, even though I am 20lbs heavier now. That being said, I can do 300 consecutive push-ups now, which is more than I could do when I was benching 275.

Perhaps it is merely muscle memory and technique...and I am not terribly worried about a bench max or any other max. But it did feel weird being bigger and weaker.

I am going to do something different this year and train strictly for function. Bella insists (as do others) that I look better at this weight, but I feel just a tad sluggish. So here's the plan:

I am going to train to accomplish the following:

Two miles in eleven minutes flat.

Seventy five consecutive pull-ups (I can do forty for sure right now).

Six hundred consecutive push-ups.

A thousand consecutive crunches.

And that's it. I'm going to ignore body weight and simply train for the functions.

I'll keep everyone posted.

If you can perform those goals on video, I'll help you sell it. Sheesh.

I can't even fathom 150 consecutive pushups, let alone 600....I've watched 3 Navy SEALS crap out after about 120.

It's true that as your strength increases, your endurance decreases. My bench press max is about 400 right now and I think I can only get about 60 pushups. Back when I was much weaker with a 250 max, I could do about 100.

The 600 pushups is certainly possible. I had a friend years ago that did 1000 in under 30 min to set the World Record. His name was Mark Evans. Don't think he's around anymore though. He was natty.

I can do 100 no problem but 600 forget it!

75 pull ups, again i'm not even close to that

When you do these thigns i want to see a video of it as well

Yep -- the DBs are about all I do really. I have 40lb ones, which I can do isolation curls for sixty reps, give or take.

No more farmer walks right now because my shoes are bad. New shoes on the way and I'll start back up.

I do the pull-ups overhand, with my hands roughly shoulder width apart. I can chin the bar with either hand alone, once only.

My pull-up form has suffered as my weight has increased. Forty is my max right now, on a good day when I am well rested (I just tested myself earlier and did forty, but the last few were pretty rough with a lot of swinging and huffing...)

Push-ups. I'll get the six, maybe more.

As for the video of this, I will be glad to provide one. I will see if I can find a videocam and post myself doing what I can do currently, as well as when I train.

I will be using the white gold alone.

BTW, I just did a set of push-ups and crapped out at 262. Some days are better than others.

I appreciate the compliments and encouragement. I know that the video request is simply for inspiration -- I hope nobody here doubts my claims (as on another board where I was called out on my pull-up claim...some members suggested that I exaggerated or somehow 'cheated', but the posts have since been deleted). I have no vested interest in lying about such things, or anything for that matter. Some of you will recall when I posted pics of myself at 185 and pretty smooth and non-muscular. I am not afraid of the truth.

BTW, If you really think a video of that could be sold then lets talk! (Maybe people will put up a pledge, say, a buck a push-up over a thousand LOL!)

I'll keep everyone posted.

I am very inspired by your single one hand chinup at 195#, many can't even hang by one hand with their body weight around 200 or more pounds. Is there anything special you did to train the first initial pull of the one hand chinup?

Yep. Here's how you train to do a one handed chin:

Execute a two handed chin to the full upright position; i.e. the bar is under your chin. Then let go with one arm and hang as long as you can with the other in that position, letting yourself down as slowly as possible, and by supplementing with side crunches and side leglifts while hanging from the bar.

You have to get used to holding the weight of your body in the fully chinned position, and you also have to train the serratus and intercostals by executing the negative chin as strictly and slowly as possible.

When you start attempting the one handed chin, begin with grasping your chinning arm by the wrist and doing it the cheat way -- you know, the way everyone does it at first. Hold the wrist and chin the bar. Gradually move your aiding hand down your arm a little further each training session, which is to say, toward your shoulder. Soon you will be aiding by grabbing your elbow and chinning. Then it will be aiding by increasing leverage by pressing on your bicep, then shoulder, and then finally, you can let go the aiding arm altogether and chin the bar one handed.

When I started I could already do about thirty two handed chins. But its technique and focus as much as anything. Even when I can do over fifty two handed chins I cannot get more than two single arm pulls. They are a bitch for sure, but they will raise eyebrows in the gym, as well as inspire people to tell you about their imaginary friend who could do ten of them back in the day...

I've got to the assisted one arm stage but had not trained for reps I was adding weight (35-70#) and just pulling "cheat" one-arm triples. I'll use your advice well. I have to get into volume, I just tend to gravitate towards low rep stuff.

People would pay for a video like that one, as well as the training instruction that could go with it. Many people want that kind of functional strength. I'd buy it just for inspiration. You could probably sell copies for $10 or so on the local boards, and give 30% commission for letting them direct the orders to you. That would be the instructional bargain of the decade.

My diet is shit. Pizza/burgers, etc. I'm a bit smoother than I like, and weaker, as mentioned. A bit of tren for the past month. Adding winny as soon as I get my order of protien shakes in. Will clean up the diet to just fish and brocolli and shakes for eight weeks.

I do push-ups ALL DAY lol. Every little break I get I do a set, at least a hundred, but the first set of the day (when I get out of bed) is always as many as I can get -- between 250 - 300 depending.

Today was 278.

FS the last thing you have to worry about is people on this board doubting claims. I don't think there is anyone on this board who runs around inflating their achievements, let alone you.

Seeing that video would be impressive.

Time for me to get the one arm pullup, now i have a new thing to train for.

Ulter, dont' most people who do high rep pushups in those competition not go all the way down? i remember seeing something on television, where this person was attempting a WR yet it seemed to me as though he only slightly bent his arms, in my eyes only about a 1/4 of a pushup.

When my friend did it years ago they had a pad under him that verified the rep. I haven't seen it done in since the late the 80's so I don't know how they do it now.

While not an official, public competition when I was in the service years back the monitor (person counting) placed a hand horizontally under the pectoral region and if you did not touch, the rep did not count. While not "scientific or perfect" it did keep honesty in the count.
