Say what you will ...
This is not a child, talking to children. This is a man. Talking to men. YouTube - Barack Obama: 'A More Perfect Union' (Full Speech) You do what you want. You place your vote where you want to place it. I am fully satisfied that I placed mine aright. Bjaarki |

I listened to the first 18 minutes and there is no doubt that he is intelligent and an exceptional speaker but what I have noticed is that what he recites is mostly history mixed with his own life experiences. He is very much like a pastor, priest or minister in the way in which he speaks to his audience but his speeches are for you to think and find a way to bond with him and not necessary to express his plans. What I've also noticed is that people tend to talk about black people in the US as if they are all of African descent, is it that people don't know better or don't want to believe anything else? To assume that every black person is both of African descent and a relative a former slave is the equivalent of saying that every German is a relative of a Nazi and every Jewish person is a descendant of a life lost at Auschwitz.

I think most of that is stereotypical ignorance and it's certainly not limited to race. Polish are white but the butt of stupid jokes. Irish are white but the butt of alcohol jokes, and on and on. Personally it's all offensive to me and always has been. You should listen to the other 20 minutes. Politicians don't open up like that very often.

He started out taking about his crazy minister and then turned it in to a discussion about race, big mistake, he should have simply said the minister was a racist and he was going to become a Presbyterian.
But the problem Obama has is he believes every problem in America can be cured by the government and increased taxes. Oh by the way it can’t be solved this way. Now I sent this guy money. I am not voting for him, because in my 58 years the government has done nothing but fatten the portfolios of politicians, nothing for the country. Not even by mistake. Everything they have tried to fix has gotten worst. Less government, less problems, less taxes and a happier SS. See that makes us all happy. |

It's pretty simple. If you're happy with the last 10 years you vote McCain. If you want a new approach you vote Obama.

Tell you what ..... Next time you want to drive somewhere that's farther than 25 miles away, you just find an on-ramp to a big beautiful interstate that the private sector paid for and try to get there. Next time someone in your family is ill, you just find a medication or a procedure that the private sector paid for and see how she does on it. Next time you get ripped off by someone and need redress, you just find a cop and a judge and a penal system that the private sector paid for and find out if you get your money back. And next time ... And the next time ... And the next time you feel endangered by a threat from overseas, you just call some troops that the private sector paid for and see how safe you feel. Oh man ..... Bjaarki |

To be honest, I have a very hard time giving much credit any politician who is speaking, unless I know that *they* wrote the speech. It's extremely doubtful he did.
The usage of speech writers is very disingenuous in my mind. The pol might be shaping the overall direction of a speech - but the powerful words, imagery and metaphors aren't his/her own. I know it's not just pols that do this. Just something that pisses me off for some reason. |

Most private research is done at Universities for a fraction of what it would cost to do the research privately. Corporations do not pay anywhere near the value of the work being done back to the schools. So government funding of the University allows the corporations to get research done on the cheap. Which, oh BTW, is why the corporations use the Universities in the first place.

I wish you guys would get over the idea that government is "them" and realize that government is "us." Have you never seen the US Constitution, for crying out loud? What's it say? "They the government?" It says "We the people." Get a clue, why don't you? My medical point isn't silly at all, as Ulter pointed out. I can't tell you why, but I'd like you to take my word for it that I know a hell of a lot more about this than you do. You can probably infer what I'm referring to since you and I follow one another's posts and I've dropped enough hints. Bottomline there is stick to stuff you know about. You obviously don't know jack about medical or scientific research. Bjaarki |

If I had to defend one waste of money over another waste of money I guess I would defend the states rights over the federal government. And to be very specific, I support the Federal government to maintain a (not our) military, to manage the monetary system, and to help those people who can not take care of themselves. The health care system managed by the government in the state or by the feds is It is a cluster fuck I do not see any need for the government to manage the interstate commerce system, it is a cluster fuck. I was drafted in 68 and spent 6 years in the army and reserves, it was a cluster fuck. The school system (has nothing to do with education) from K to Doctoral Is a cluster fuck. It is Nauseating Bjaarki You are more than polite, and down right admirable in your positions and statements of your positions. If you were a woman it would be our duty to get married, (but judging by your avatar in the prenuptial I would include breast augmentation and hormone treatment) We are simply exact opposites on what means to the same objective. And to try and maintain my sense of maturity I am right and you are wrong. Ok that was a dumb joke, sort of like all my jokes. |

You're in your 60's?
All of our research into s-band medical magnetrons for radiography was funded by Seimens, as well as our ku-band work for RF emitters in dermatology.
