I'm not exactly sure what they're called but I'm not talking about when you smash your finger and see blood under the skin. Anyway I get these little red spots every once in a while that look like they're filled with blood. They dont stick out they stay under the skin but if you touch them they hurt like hell. I know it sounds gross but if you pop them they heal up and feel better. But the thing about when you pop them is blood comes out then a little chunk of what is either flesh or a small piece of fat (but its not a pimple). The other really bad thing about popping them is that it leaves a little hole in the area permanently which really bothers me because I'm all about good skin. I usually get these on my face or upper back and recently got one near my knee which is a first. Also I've tried to just leave them alone but they never heal they just dont hurt as bad after a while. Anybody have any clue what these are or why they happen I cant stand them and they piss me off?

As a side note it sounds like a zit but its definitely something different.

May be a staph infection of some sort. I say "may" because that is only a guess. If it is you'll need an antibiotic.

I dont know anything about staph infections but I'll look them up. I've had these on and off for ten years. So I wouldn't think its a staph infection but then again I dont really know.

From what I read and the pictures I saw its not a staph infection. The things I get are small, under the skin, never get larger and the area around it always looks fine. Also I'm a hand washing (30 times a day sometimes) body cleanliness freak which sounds like it would be helpful in not getting staph.

If you don't want to see a doctor(and who does!), the next time you go to a pharmacy you might try asking the pharmacist if he has an idea what it may be. They are a wealth of information and an under used resource.

ok that sounds REALLY odd first of all lol

secondly, there has to be some sort of bacterial growth there, as the flesh is necrotic essentially... same deal with a spider bite the tissue is killed and will not regrow... the fact that you've had them for a long period of time would def encourage me personally to get to a freakin doctor! :)

get a referral to a derm and get a final answer... last thing you would want is one of them to not heal and give you a nasty infection that doesnt go away or abscesses.

It probably does sound weird. I dont have these all over my body I just get one of these
occasionally. Right now I only have one of these which is on the side of my face by my ear. Its a really small red spot that is not real noticeable but hurts to touch. I thought I had one by knee but it ended up not being one. I would have gone to a dermatologist already but I go for periods of time without getting these and I always hope they wont come back but I've given up on that now. So hopefully I will make it to a derma soon and report back.

I'll try that first. Thanks

I thought it might be MRSA, but I googled it and not only was it topical, but disgusting...aka, you'd probably have gone to the doctor already.

This does sound really weird, I've never heard of anything like it. Ask a pharmy as suggested. Tell us what he/she says.

Wait.
Face, back, knee? Could these be ingrown hairs?
