So Im listening to Obama today blame the Iraq war for Americas financial troubles. Not the housing market bust, not just a normal market correction (which for those who know economics understands must happen at times), but the Iraq war.
To put things into perspective, the current cost of the Iraq war stands at or around $410B dollars. That is roughly equal to the amount of Interest the US pays each year on its national debt!!! Thats right. One years worth of interest!!! Now Im not going to stand up here and preach that the economy is robust and firing on all cylinders, but its not a recession either. There is SOME growth, no matter how slight. Therefore, by textbook, no recession. But things are a little dicey and teetering, no doubting that. But you know what will make all of this truly turn into a nightmare? Higher income taxes. The dems say they wont raise taxes, but claim they will terminate the tax cuts. Removing a tax cut IS A TAX INCREASE !! These are the games the dems love to play. Lying to Americans. Blaming the Iraq war for a financial situation far more complex to be caused by a $410B expenditure. Nope, thats a lie and they know it, but voters dont. So Jack goes to work down at the local 79 and tells all his plumber buddies that Bush and the Iraq war is why the economy is in the tank and why we are in a recession!! Then he goes back to work at $45/Hour after taking his two hour lunch break. Sure, the war is the problem with the economy in America. We the sheeple, in order to form a more perfect con.

The tax cuts and the war are why we had to borrow $2 trillion from China. That killed the dollar. That's the single biggest reason for the recession. OPEC was on the dollar standard. You couldn't buy oil with any other currency. Not even gold. The dollar sinks, Venezuela and Iran switch to Euro (others are moving toward the same thing), we pay more for oil. Gas prices skyrocket.
Yes it's very complex and much moreso than I'm going to sit and write. But the war has trashed our economy. The housing collapse is the second biggest reason. To borrow from Carville, it's the war, stupid.

And yeah, Iran and Venezuala have shifted to the Euro, but thats it. Not OPEC to as a whole. Worldwide oil sales are still dominated by the dollar. You are reciting some leftist noise machine trash half truth. Iraq still receives payment in the US Dollar as do many other nations. So sure, side with the terrorists who are out to ruin us and want to see us fall, just like the democrats. Im beginning to see little difference between the two. A bunch of anti-US communists. The dollar is down for mutliple reasons, but will rebound, much to yours and Irans and Venezualas chagrin. The problem with the dollar may well be tied to oil, but it isnt the war that is causing the issue, its that the people in charge of much of the oil are anti-America and quite mad. This is why we need oil independece, huh?

Excuse me what financial problems are you speaking about,
“Americas financial troubles” Only 3-4 percent of the population is affected by this sub prime situation and 95% of those people are here in California and Florida. For 96 percent of the country this is the best economy, in the best civilization in the history of man. I know some of these facts are just details if you are a democrat running for President, Everything to the DFL is horrible. But in reality most of us or 95% of us are making more, saving more and enjoy life more than ever before. |

Oops, not true, in terms of real dollars discounted for inflation, the energy crisis of Jimmy Carter, remember him, in terms of real dollars was twice as bad. Oil is what 110 a barrel, but what was it when carter was president and what did you make. I remember the first house I bought, my interest rates were 18 percent per year. Never really dropped until,,,,,, when did they drop, oh I remember when that cowboy was elected, 20 team mule borax. Or maybe you remember him as the greatest American President. The Honorable Ronald Regan. |

And about the Obama Minister,
he should be on his knees thanking GOD he is an American America has been the best country on earth for blacks and whites and all minorities. 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships to the US and Then grew into 40 million plus introduced to Christianity, And have reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known on the planet, sorry Obama, those be the facts Jack. Nobody anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than------------- white Americans. Trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs Designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have promoted discrimination against whites -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks. All we hear is bitching & grievances. Where is the GD gratitude What the heck is up Obama rear’s, talking about --- “ladders of opportunity" for blacks” Go to Altoona and Johnstown, and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for "deserving" white kids. El Zipo Does Obama live in the US, does he know what day it is? Is he aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time? now that is affirmative action, Mr Bakke where are you??????>???????? Oh Mr Obama some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago. Okay some times when I drink I listen to what’s his face----another nut case----Buchanan But on a few minor details Like everything except his nice suits, I disagree with Baracko Last edited by solidspine; 03-21-2008 at 12:46 PM.. |

In Africa blacks took blacks
from there home, Whites did not do that and I never said they did. dud and sold them to Spanish & European slave traders. 600,000 people were brought to the US as slaves. And that population & immigrants has grown to 40million plus in the US. Quote:
Also I said -- Nobody anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than------------- white Americans. And there is not a better country in the world to live in then the US especially for blacks. i understand other africans sold africans we all do but they got here on boat with european. If they didnt buy them then we wouldnt be here..
I do understand whites have helped "uplift" as you say but they also hold down. you make it out like ethnic people should praise whites for what they did or for bring them here and i cannot agree with that. I guess i should also be happy that european killed the american indians and took there land so the 500 of them left can have a casino right? so we can have thanksgiving? I hate to copy someones words but thats the tipical white person thinking. Not all white people but ahell of alot of them.

Back to topic .....
There is so much Noise Machine crap in your threadstarter, MidLife, that it's laughable. Not just the BS that $410 billion is like a rounding error or something (it's okay to spend that kind of dough for an unjust war, but not for education, healthcare reform, or anything else that Rush Limbaugh doesn't support, right?), but those sly little anti-union barbs as well. $410 billion is a gross underestimate of what this stupid war is going to cost this nation. Has it caused the current financial downturn that neither you nor your president want to acknowledge? Of course not. Is it a factor? Well, it's $410 billion, right? You figure it out. The priorities that you guys have just make me shake my head. War is good. Peace is bad. Lies are truth. Truth is lies. You're like something out of Orwell. In fact, you're the reason Orwell wrote what he wrote. You ought to read him some time. Bjaarki |
