Default Why cut with Sweet Potatoes and Oatmeal?

I understand that when cutting, that it is necessary to avoid high GI carbohydrates. So, why do people recommend Sweet Potatoes and Oatmeal? I can easily eat a diet of just protein (fish, chicken, tofu) and veggies (no root veggies or corn). Doesn't this diet have an even lower GI? Therefore isn't it "better" for cutting?

So, what is the purpose of the sweet potatoes and the oatmeal in a cutting diet? Is it to have enough carbs to power a workout? The way I address that is I have hi GI carbs an half hour before and during the workout. I sip on a powerade with about 300 calories. That gives me water, salt, and energy for the workout.

This seems to work for me, but I don't want to go against the "wisdom of the ages". Does anyone know the answers to these questions?

Thanks,

-D

It's just two different ways to get to the same place. I prefer using the method you are using and taking Glucorell R before the Gatorade powered workout.
FitnessChick uses the Yams, brown rice, oatmeal method.
The question is... is she any leaner when she's done cutting than I am? Phuckin right she is. The only way to find body fat on FC when she'd done cutting would be an autopsy.
But I know guys (Mr Nobody, Macro, etc) that do what I do and get down to 7-8% and that's all I am looking for.

I like to have carbs in my diet always, and when I'm cutting I really do notice that if I restrict carbs, my metabolism seems so slow, yet the fat drops off tons quicker with carbs+ caloric deficit... probably due to t3 levels from carbs.

ALSO another good tactic is eating shitloads of fiber all day, cause then you're metabolism is always working a bit harder.

Ok.. Well, I'm ready to try it. If I get a T3 type effect from eating carbs, I'm all for it. I like both yams and whole grains (if I have rice, it's usually a mix of brown rice, whole oats, barley, and millet), so it should be easy to add them in.

My question is this: how much do I add? And when? Just in the mornings? Just b4 workouts? All day long?

Thanks,

-D

In the morning is good, (useful to do some exercise first I think) as well as post workout (you'll be replenishing glycogen stores here...)

When your liver has glycogen you will be producing t3 especially.

As far as glucorell r, I'd say this can only help any time you eat carbs.

a piece of fruit isn't bad before workout, I've done this and actually even when I eat carbs my workouts are much more intense,

high fiber vegetables are great to have with every meal, I swear I take my temperature with a digital thermomenter, it's always quite elevated throughout the day when I use carbs and plenty of fiber, on low carbs it just plummets, I think the key is to just make sure you're in a caloric deficit (roids help here too [doing quite well even on just winstrol.. I was running prop/winny but when I have no anti-aromatase drugs the prop goes away for a while, I don't particularily like the bloat.)

you can easily be full all day long if you eat plenty of fiber and still be in a caloric deficit, gas may be a problem at first, but really I find I build up a tolerance to it, as I have very little problems anymore even consuming like 100g of fiber per day, sometimes a little more and sometimes a little less.

You'll probably want to keep fat low, and definately avoid saturated and trans fats.

I'll be prefectly honest, I'm not king of shredding or anything, the lowest I've been is last summer around 7. something bodyfat.. though I'm dropping fat pretty quickly right now and the goal is 5%, time can only tell.

Good luck homie.

oatmeal is the only starchy carb that does not bother me while cutting

I will start having other ones since the Gluc-r does seem to help with that
