Default whey isnt for everyone

I had been using straight whey for about a year before I read a post from drexx that got me thinking. He suspected that when whey was quickly absorbed it causes an insulin spike. No news to us right. Since then I started thinking about how bouts of hypoglycemia seemed to correlate to times I had been using whey alone as a meal. I decided to try casein based proteins fro a while. After about 2 months of using casein based proteins I have noticed a big difference in my body comp, energy levels and I cant remember the last time I went hypo.

I also wanted to say:
Thanks Drexx!

Where do you get your casein? I've recently been looking into the possibility of alternating the two kinds of protein, depending on the situation....

I'm using evopro from cytosport and ISS micellar matrix. I just started using the ISS. These are actually blends of micellar and whey, but they still seem to treat me better than plain 'ol whey.

anywhey (get it ), The best pro supps that are casein based IMO are from cytosport. They have evopro, which is a straight protein supp, and muscle milk, which is a MRP. The muscle milk is the best tastin pro pwder ive ever tasted, but its got 18g of fat...mostly MCT's.

switching up your protein sounds like a good idea, and its what I'd prefer. I like whey post WO, but thats the only time Im going to be using whey only.

Why cant you add some fiber to your whey to slow it down

I never thought of it. Does that work well?

If it does it would save me a lot of money.

I was under the impression caseins gel up and are a much slower release than whey, which can be converted more easily to glucose. The conversion to glucose is what I suspect is happening with me...mostly based on the body comp changes Ive seen. I think my liver may be exceptionally proficient at gluconeogenisis.

...but maybe I just need to add some fiber. I'll have to give that idea a run.

People have way too many convictions in this country. Lighten the fuck up!

There is right and wrong, but only God knows which one is which. I am always having trouble finding an answer that I "think" has more right than wrong in it.

Fat is the answer for me. 1 gram of fat per 2 grams of protein avoid the breakdown of pro in glucose.
