I am going to have to research this. I would like to know who funded it, but who knows -...coffee as an antioxidant and niacin source, that is unique.

It takes a minimum of 6 cups per day for well over a decade to notice benefits. One can almost hear the collective gasps when another sudy done in 10 years from now says - "We were wrong"

My fake breasts are the best part of me. Its funny. You boil me down to my most important features and it is 2 bags of saline.

N-Smith, as long as your looking into things, why don't you see if you can find out what the physiological and neurological effects are of 1500 mg of caffiene every day for 12 to 18 years.

I find this all a little hard to believe. Coffee illicits an insulin response. How would that prevent diabetes?

one would guess that people who drink caffiene are more active, due to caffeine stimulus, and have lower bodyfats (due to increase in metabolic rate)

note: that the "new" high fat coffees will probably ameliorate any benefit and increase risk.

though thats just supposition

Maybe this study sheds some light on the subject:
================

Br J Pharmacol. 1999 Mar;126(6):1301-6.

Increased alertness and reduced incidence of Alzheimer's and pre-senile dementia in chronic caffienated coffee drinkers

Dr. Breiteiss N. Busheetayld, Dr. Juan Valdez

Department of Forensic Medicine, Columbia, SA

The effects of treating groups of Coffee drinkers with four different brands of coffee and the effects in different brain regions were examined. The coffee was administered six times each day and the subjects were sacrificed 2 days after the final cup, on day 60 of the trial. 5-HT and its metabolite 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA), DA and its metabolites 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) and homovanillic acid (HVA) were measured. The results indicate that relatively high doses of caffeinated coffee increase dopaminergic and 5-hydroxytryptaminergic metabolism in brain, probably due to enhanced turnover in these monaminergic systems.

Dr.Juan Valdez later commented "Dayum,Ilovecoffee.Idrinkiteveryday.Do
