Interesting News Segment on The News Hour (PBS)

...it was all about steroid use.

It was quite stunning in that they had two different MDs who were not overwhelmingly negative on steroid risks.

One rattled off all the normal risks, but clearly stated that these side effects were associated with 'huge' doses.

The other said what we all know....that the risks are greatly exxagerated, that there is sketchy scientific evidence to quantify the risks. He also stated that they health risks of competing in sport itself (like football, hockey etc) were much much greater than the risks associated with steroid use...

WOW. I thought this was America, land of the narrow minded.

PBS...never would have imagined.

PBS rocks, its one of the few news sources that reports indebt without sensationalism. I listen to them every morning and afternoon on my way to and from work. And you know why they can do that: They are supported by public donations (with government grant) and do not have to care about ratings.

PBS has no commercials and only mentiones contributors at station identification blurps

Well in San Diego KPBS has commercials and so does NPR, foundation this and foudation that, and then there's the fundraising. Don't get me wrong I've sent them my fair share. They should just choose one or the other not both.

Yep the fund raisers are truly a pain in the ass, however here in Central Fla there are no commercials on PBS.
