If boiled olives are not available, one can substitute by soaking eggs in vinegar until they are clear.
Personally, I prefer pressed gristle patties to the standard heartmash, and I especially like the patty crumbled into chunks and dipped in warm buttermilk. Of course, this is entirely unsuitable for a formal dinner. So instead, if I have guests, I will serve Spam chunks in mayonnaise, heated to perfection in the microwave (heat the mixture until the mayonnaise turns clear). This will not only add a certain luster to the pinkness of the spam chunks, but will really bring out that 'zang' of the buttermilk, which should be kept at exactly room temperature for drinking. Deserts should be sweet, but not overly sweet. Raisins soaked in vinegar until they are as plump as grapes make an excellent addition to any meal. Another great raisin or prune preparation is as follows: In a blender, grind four oz prunes until a thick liquid is formed. Stir in 1/2 cup of peas, along with 1/2 cup of cheese (I prefer sharp cheddar). Now, in a pan, broil sup 1 cup of chopped bratworst and sliced beef heart. Be sure that the meat turns completely grey before adding to the prune mixture. The entire mixture should be poured onto a cookie sheet and allowed to sit at room temperature until a fine glaze appears over the entire preparation. This takes about two days. Slice into squares and serve with beandip and pork loin. I hope these ideas help those of you who are looking to add taste, as well as nutrition, to your bodybuilding endeavors. |
