I thought I was gonna jump on it this year and give it a spin (yay tax stimulus check!), however I had some unforeseen financial crap come up that just made it not the smartest decision to go scooping up 6mo's to a year supply.

Fairly happy where Im at bro. If I could drop 2% more BF and be around the 6% range Id be very happy where Im at. Currently Im just above 220 pounds, and your guess is as good as mine on the bodyfat, but id say upper 8.8% range if I had to take a shot at it.

Its more than just a hobby to me; its more a way of life... but you know that. I never have any aspirations to step on stage really. Although part of me would like to go just bust up a novice division somewhere just once to say that I did it. Other than that tho, I really have no desire to be in a thong on stage with a bunch of other men. Just not my cup of tea.

My back is very nice - its always been one of my best attributes honestly I just can never take pics of it. I could use some more thickness in my lats, but I still have a good frame imo, and I carry my weight very well. I don't want to put on TOO much thickness because then my lower back starts to really feel the added pounds (I have serious serious lower back issues - ive posted them numerous times)

My wheels - I posted them fairly recently in the Wheels thread. They are nothing special by any means, but feel free to go take a glance. I don't work them too much, again because of my back and also because I like to run a lot so I keep them light. I have decent quads and hams, but my calves have always been lacking.

I'll go ahead and post the entire story just to let you know the deal. My back has ALWAYS bothered me, however I have always been one to push through pain - even as a youth. So growing up, I really thought what I was experiencing was "normal". It wasn't until my soph year in college while playing football that I found out it was far beyond normal.

My back continued to get worse while playing football and began going out on me more frequently than normal. For example, nothing opens your eyes more than when you are loading and unloading a dishwasher on the bottom level, and you bend over only to find yourself doing a face plant on the dishwasher door. Stuff like that started occurring far more often as went through my college career. Well one day I was working out with my receivers coach (whom you might know today as the head coach for the Steelers) and he noticed me not only grimacing in pain, but actually with tears forming in my eyes. He bugged me that day constantly about it until I finally told him about my back (I really had never told many people about it - no one wants to hear some sob story). He immediately called the head trainer and they sent me straight to a back specialist in town.

After I got to the specialist and he took a round of x-rays, he came back with a puzzled look on his face and said "umm... id like to .. umm.. run another round of x-rays if you dont mind?" --- that's never good.

After the 2nd round he comes back in and says "Ive only read about this, and never actually seen it before..." ---- again, never good.

Apparently I was born with a defect that less than 1% of the worlds population is born with. My lowest 2 vertibrae are fused together without a disk in-between them. Then I have 1 disk above them separating 2 more fused verts. From there on up, I am "normal", however that 1 disk in-between those 4 verts takes on so much pressure that it is constantly bulging and I slip it very very frequently. It is always causing me some serious discomfort and results in many hours of lost sleep.

Because of this, I have not done squats in over 10 years. I don't do power cleans, bent over rows, military press or anything that puts direct pressure on my lower back. If I do "military press" i just do a really really steep incline press which seems to make it easier for me, but still not comfortable.

There is no surgical procedure that they can do to alleviate any of my pain - at least not according to 3 specialist I saw about 10-11 years ago. And I really don't like to be constantly doped up on pain killers. That's just bad news.


So there ya have it. My sob-back-story :biggthumpup:

Stuff like that started occurring far more often as went through my college career. Well one day I was working out with my receivers coach (whom you might know today as the head coach for the Steelers) and he noticed me not only grimacing in pain, but actually with tears forming in my eyes. He bugged me that day constantly about it until I finally told him about my back (I really had never told many people about it - no one wants to hear some sob story). He immediately called the head trainer and they sent me straight to a back specialist in town.

After I got to the specialist and he took a round of x-rays, he came back with a puzzled look on his face and said "umm... id like to .. umm.. run another round of x-rays if you dont mind?" --- that's never good.

After the 2nd round he comes back in and says "Ive only read about this, and never actually seen it before..." ---- again, never good.

Apparently I was born with a defect that less than 1% of the worlds population is born with. My lowest 2 vertibrae are fused together without a disk in-between them. Then I have 1 disk above them separating 2 more fused verts. From there on up, I am "normal", however that 1 disk in-between those 4 verts takes on so much pressure that it is constantly bulging and I slip it very very frequently. It is always causing me some serious discomfort and results in many hours of lost sleep.

Because of this, I have not done squats in over 10 years. I don't do power cleans, bent over rows, military press or anything that puts direct pressure on my lower back. If I do "military press" i just do a really really steep incline press which seems to make it easier for me, but still not comfortable.

There is no surgical procedure that they can do to alleviate any of my pain - at least not according to 3 specialist I saw about 10-11 years ago. And I really don't like to be constantly doped up on pain killers. That's just bad news.

Well, I will say this, Immortalis, ever since I have seen you on this board I have admired what you have achieved with yourself. As made obvious by the women's comments here, the form you have attained is one coveted by many, not just women, but by many men seeking their attention as well. Indeed, it is one that I would be happy with as well. (Hope that doesn't sound too sappy or something, I am on a lot of drugs right now).

I did not remember that about your back. I don't know exactly how you feel, but can definitely sympathize with you as I have had back issues for years. I have bulging discs at l3 though l5 and at c2/c3 and am currently at home recovering from having a fusion at c5/6 for some reason my back has been trouble for me ever since college. I don't know whether it was from playing ball or just the intense training for it that I put myself through (I was squatting 450 by sophomore yr in HS, over 550 as a Sr.) or if it was some genetic defect that makes me more prone to this sort of issue. At any rate, I too live with it and have to deal with trying to work out around it.

And I am extremely jealous of you being able to maintain 8% bf levels, because I can get there only with extreme measures, and have never been to 6%. My body can maintain 10-11% if I am careful and keep up with cardio.

Anyways, I didnt mean to turn your thread to one about me, just trying to say that I understand a bit of where you are coming from and definitely admire what you have done with it.

Thx bro - my shoulders and traps blow up real quick. I dont even work my traps AT ALL cause my wife doesn't want me lookin like I play football still, lol. So I hit them on dumbell side raises and up-right rows indirectly and that's it.
