Default SHINGLES AHH!

Brothers,
I'm in some SERIOUS PAIN! I developed what I thought was an ear infection and went to the ER where the MD noticed a rash and had some blood work done and diagnosed me with SHINGLES.....Its all over the side of my face, ear and Lip....Apparantley it attacks your nerves inside. MD has me on pain killers and some other anti-viral stuff....Pain killers seem to just dope me up and make me forget about the shooting pain. Im on a AM Dbol bridge and will continue it. I have no idea how I got this Shit. Maybe my immune system was down from the bridge? I had a mild case of chicken pox when I was kid but I guess that does not matter, the virus stays with you forever.....

I feel for you. I had shingles in the same sort of pattern around 1994. I had stabbing pains in my ear that would buckle my knees. One MD diagnosed it as an ear infection. A few days later blisters came out of my right ear and all ovr my face. My lips and cheek got about 3 times normal thickness and the blisters oozed straw colored sticky serum. Hurt like a big dog too. Be careful it can be contagious to others - I gave my 2 oldest children chicken pox from it. Also be careful with it near your eyes.

Are you taking Valtrex - it can limit the outbreak and help prevent "post herpetic neuralgia". After wards - black elderberry extract (Sambucol) can help actually eliminate the virus. It blocks the enzyme virus need to replicate - it is available over the counter and will help prevent it from coming back.

Thanks for the info bro. Im taking Zovirax, I believe it the same kind of Anti-Viral as Valtrex. I believe Im at the ending fase, lots of blistering and oozing. How long did it take for the pain to go away? I can't go back to work taking these pain killer, though it may make the day a bit intresting ...How long did it take for the pretty blisters to die down....

Thanks

OUCH!!!!!!

Hope you get better man!

I hope I never get a relapse of chicken pox or MONO...that crap put a hurtin' on my a$$.

Oh yeah, this reminds me...Got Wood?, What is a good dosage for Sambucal? I have been taking the Solaray capsules @ a dosage of ~1700mg in the morning and at night. Should I up it????

I have no illness at the moment, it is mainly as a preventitive measure during these winter months.

Thanks!

BMJ

CYP...sorry if I took away from your thread. It was a spur of the moment reminder of something I have been wanting to know. Maybe it'll help ya out too.

Hey bro,

After my 1st cycle I got shingles. It sucked. Valtrex worked for me. I still have some scarring on my back from them. See what can be done to help the scarring. I was warned that if I get it again it would be VERY serious. To all other people out there, everyone should know the signs of shingles and be prepared to get a doc when you might have it. Catching it early is critical!

Good luck bro.

Cyp, sorry to hear that bro! Hope it works out well. Keep your head up (if it doesn't hurt too much)!

I feel for you, bro. I had shingles (it's a Herpes Zoster virus) back in 1972, when I was 21. I had it on the side of my body, around my ribs. The virus follows the nerve circuits under your skin, and breaks out along their main branch. The pain was really debilitating. The blisters are exquisitely sensitive to touch. Even a breeze blowing against them was agonizing. People who've not had this disorder have no idea how painful it can be.

Back in those days there weren't the kinds of medications we now have to treat Herpes Zoster. The docs told me I would be fucked up for 6 months, 2 months if I were reeeeally lucky. I used a lot of guided imagery, imagining the virus abating, my skin and muscles healing, and was better, symptom free, in two weeks. You might try that, along with the meds.

Best of luck with this.
