Next week I am supposed to get shoulder surgery : torn rotator, torn labrum, bone spurs.
Will they Foley cath me? Any of you guys who have had this done - can you tell me

Read some of the stories, make sure you give it time to heal, wear the sling and go to PT.

I had the same thing, no foley cath for me. Listen to richd, let it heal properly and do the therapy! My right shoulder has terrible external rotation because I didn't take care of it.

Is it an arthroscopy, then no, if it is open then yes.

Sounds painful to have all those going on now. I wish you luck.
i have have 2 torn labrums...one repaired... one i just said fawk it i'm not spending 6 months trying to rehab it. not sure the severity of your injury, but mine was pretty bad b/c i waited about a year to get my shoulder checked out after i realized there was something wrong. i'm still not 100% after 6 years....heavy benching kills me still. good luck man....hope you recover quickly

I go in for surgery - outpatient center. 5 minutes until they administer anesthesia and they ask me : do you have a latex allergy. I was tested for about 100 allergies back in 1994 - yes I am latex allergic.
Surgery cancelled.
It was preauthorized, so now they are rushing to get it done in the hospital. But I had scheduled it over spring break, I really cannot afford the time off from work. Plus I need to be 100% by Mid June. Having it done middle of March was fine, having it done middle of April is cutting the rehab close.
Looks like it is going to be put off a few years.

No foley. Dont sweat it. And they will protect your modesty. Ive had numerous surgeries and never been cathed. Nothing will matter once they start counting and pushing those meds, truuuuuust me.
Best of luck bro.

sorry to hear bro, sounds like a painful time ahead. Be careful you don't want to make it any worse. Is there a time line for the surgery?
