Hello everyone, this is just a friendly reminder to remember to throw in a set of 25 rep squats every once and a while when lifitng. I only do one set about every 8-10 weeks but that's b/c the team trainer only has us do them that often. Remember when doing them, that it's best to stretch out throughouly before doing them and that they should be your only work set for squats that day. Doing these every so often will shock the living s*@t out of your Central Nervous System and is a good way to help with growth but also with strength. Just remember to BREATHE during them, taking more of a rest during the longer reps, and make sure to have both side and back spotters when doing this, as it's easy to drop the weight when you get to the 23 or 24 rep.
To judge the weight, go with something that you can do about 10 reps with but have to work hard to get that 10th rep...for example, I did 335 for 25 today and about passed out, but boy did it get the CNS and blood flowing...but remember you might have to sit down/stretch for a few minutes afterwards to fully recover, b/c these are intense BABY!! Hey, what can I say?? That's what they have us do, and for a little update for you...I did them yesterday morning at about 9:30 a.m. and last night I could start to feel them getting sore, and today my legs are full blown sore and shot...some serious stretching is in order, and my legs usually don't get sore with workouts anymore.
BTW, 25 reps is 5 more than the traditional 20 rep squat that is portrayed in some books, but believe me, that 5 extra reps(even with help from spotters) can make a world of difference!
