Well ladies and gentlemen, after all the problems I've had this year, and this includes dietary problems as well as too much off time in the gym, I have become a fat-ass. The good news is im now doing something about it as I prepare to embark on my first tren/suspension cycle, planned to start in about a week or so. SO I've been doing 30 minutes of cardio(walking briskly on an incline on the treadmill) and im worried about muscle wasting. The whole point of my cardio at the end of my workouts is two-fold: #1 I have no time in the morning before work, #2 I believe post training is an optimal time as your glycogen stores are low. SO I told my friend who suggested taking in protein before I start my cardio otherwise Ill burn muscle. I typically just go staright into the cardio after my last set. I think he has a good idea, but im afraid if I drink some protein before I start the cardio my body will start to burn that instead of my bodyfat. What up? Which should I do?

Here's one concern about taking protein btwn lifting and cardio - you'll end up burning that protein for fuel rather than building muscle if you do cardio too soon. Same goes for post-lifting carbs. If anyone can give a solution I'm sure both Mike and myself would be eternally grateful. One thing that works so-so is to do windsprints RIGHT AFTER cardio and THEN take your shake. The reason I said so-so is cuz I'll already be glycogen depleted and will feel like shit windsprinting on empty, but oh well, that's just me. |

Ok I came up with a theory, how about drinking a protein shake as I begin my weight training? That way my muscles have the protein to last the duration, then I do the cardio at the end when my glycogen stores are depleted, and I shouldnt waste muscle. Good?

I would suggest taking in BCAA's around the last exercise before you do cardio. That way it is in the blood stream and IF your body is going to look for amino acids (protein) to use as fuel it will rely on the ingested amino acids instead of drawing from the amino acid pool. I, however, don't think your body is primed to use protein as fuel after weight training and to me it doesn't make sense that just because you perform cardio right after weight training you will shift into protein metabolism/oxidation. I would recommmend sticking with only intervals as the form of cardio though. This way you can tap into the oxidative/VO2 MAX system and take advantage of it's efficient fat burning properties. I mean after you weight train your heart rate is already elevated so it's like you have already been
"warming" up for cardio and going right into intervals would take advantage of this. I only perform 15 minutes....maybe 20 minutes max of cardio following weight training. That way you don't narrow your "anabolic window" too much after training....when you should be eating carbs and protein. just my thoughts Women are the most beautiful creatures on earth......it's a shame most of them are fucked in the head.

Lord in heaven. You guys have taken something so very simplistic and turned into a complicated mind numbing disaster. Lift then get on the treadmill for 20- 30 minutes bro. After that have your post workout shake and whatever else you like to take post workout. Sometimes it just amazes me how ridiculous this gets. You wont be wasting any muscle and you will lose the fat.
DECA- IT'S WHATS FOR DINNER!

Thanx Dman, that's exactly what I was thinking, but sometimes when someone tells you something to the contrary, it can be hard to rid yourself of nagging doubts, you know? Cool, now I can be on my way to getting more ripped than both F.S. AND Dman hehe. www.anabolicscience.com |

what about a low dose of 'slin before cardio ? my thinking is, the slin will dispose of the blood glucose & allow one to start burning fat faster. of course i would always have some simple carbs on hand just in case.
anyway, what are ya'lls thoughts on this ? thanks |
