Are there any negatives to milk or dairy while dieting....besides the obvious calorie implications if you go over your daily calorie intake?
Let's say you still stay within your daily allowance of calories, but you're consuming milk, such as whole or 2%. I've always heard that dairy tends to smoothe (sp) people out. Comments? |

Some people love it, some hate it. If you personally do not smooth out, then by all means drink it. That means your body is processing it correctly. If you bloat, get gas, burps, etc... you should probably cut it out of your diet. Lastly, Ive read that the homogenization process is extremely unhealthy as it allows milk fat to be readily absorbed in the intestine due to molecular particle size (thats why it doesnt rise to the top). Apparently this is a bad thing, so if you must drink it stick with skim.

I can't live without low fat cheese and I am about to add NO FAT milk to all my protein shakes .
I asked about the whole " milk will make your skin thicker and smooth you out " here , but people don't really believe in that ? I dunno . I guess that if you stay withim your calorie RANGE it is all good and it CAN'T smooth you out . Victor

If you're hard-up for milk in, say, your oatmeal or something, but you don't have a dairy farm and you don't want to risk the milk sugar reactions, give lactose-free milk a shot. It doesn't have lactose (milk sugar), so it should be good. There's always soymilk, too.

If the lactose is getting to you, you might want to try
![]() Believe you me, you do it right, no one knows you're eating soy. I've surprised many carnivores with soy "meat." Just gotta season it right and you seriously don't know the difference ![]() I'm no veggo, but some people I know don't eat beef, I like the variety, and it's faster because you don't need to brown it.

I drink about a quart a day when cutting and over half a gallon a day the rest of the time. One time I cut out all dairy for several months and promptly became lactose intolerant. It took several weeks to get my body back to normal so now I make it a point to always have some milk year round.

I think it would not be advisable to cut milk out in the long term...especially for women..but I was also told to avoid dairy when cutting
![]() for the argument of it...milk is aimed at fattening up a calf..so it's main AIM is to help put on a layer of fat.. well if your a calf that is ![]()
