Unhappy protein sources please .

I need more protein sources . PLLEEEEEASE .

I can't rely on whey , lean red meat and low fat cheese my whole day .

I can't stand chicken no more , I hate fish and I also HATE eggs .

SO I only have 3 protein sources . I need more .

does it actually exist ?

When I mean protein SOURCE I mean a product that is at least 80 % protein . So , don't say BEANS or LENTILS because that is more carbs than protein .

Talking

hehehe

2 Problems:

1- looking at no fat milk label , this is what it says : 60 cals for glass and 9 g carbs and 6 g protein , so , this is more of a CARB source than a protein source

2- I don't like milk alone , I would have to mix with protein shakes and then it completly loses it purpose .

And after 10 years in bodybuilding I also found that ALL PROTEINS taste like .

Seriously take a look at it :

1- Chicken breast - no good
2- Eggs - no good
3- whey protein - no good
4- fish - no good

Now , why is that cheese and red meat tastes good ? Because even thought it says LOW fat , there is FAT there , and it is the FAT that makes it tastes good because protein ALONE CAN'T TASTE GOOD !

I find myself in almost complete disagreement.

I'm utterly partial to chicken breast and eggs; I look forward with gleeful anticipation to my bedtime calcium caseinate mixed with milk; I miss my whey if it's not added to my morning cereal; I was raised on the British delicacy of fish and chips. Admittedly, fish and chips holds a lot of carbs but the fish is enjoyable.

Maybe you need not so much a fresh source of protein but, rather, a cookery course. I think you need to learn how to make the high-protein foods more acceptable to your palate.

You could also experiment with different fish. They have their own distinct flavours and the cooking can help you to mould the texture.

Damn bro ! How can you like protein ?

Ok , first things first .

I am really LAZY to cook . That said , I like stuff that I can prepare in like 2 minutes . LOL . AND I agree I need a cookery course . LOL

Ok , let's say I can enjoy chicked breast , but then I have to prepare with lemon , salt , let it sit , then I use no fat spray and fry pan and bam it is ready . But still gotta throw in some melted low fat cheese on top of it to make it really good . Either that or some kinda sauce , low fat ketchup is good .Ok , I can try to do this at least once a day .

but eggs , damn , not even with 100 oz of melted cheese over it I can eat it anymore . It came to a point that I was using more melted low fat cheese than eggs , like only 3 egg whites and a SHIT load of melted cheese over it .

So , what is the point ? since egg whites only have 3.5 g protein each one. I was taking like 10 g ??? Not enough of course .

So I just gave up on eggs because I can't eat it alone , I can't imagine myself eating 10-12 egg whites all at once without cheese . So , eggs OUT .

About casein . OK , I never tried it but everybody says it tastes like crap and also has a very LOW BV . I usually use whey + fats before going to bad . I was wondring casein + low fat milk should taste better ? I don't know . And there is carbs on milk , and carbs I try to avoid on my last meal .

I can try some fish , that is for sure , I am not a big fan but like you said there are tons of types and I might find one that I like . Lemme see what happens.

One question : How do you mix cereal with whey ??!!?

How is that suposed to work ?

Also , I am really not sure about the milk will make you skin thicker if you want thin skin avoid milk theory . Is it true ?

Because I can tolerate lactose and using milk during the day would help , altought there are lotsa carbs in the milk , it can make a LOT of stuff tastes better . Protein shakes are the first one.

I'd agree that protein in water is a tad grim, which is maybe why I almost always mix it with milk.

You're discarding the best part of the egg. The yolk holds as much protein as the white and most of the good taste. If you're not avoiding the fats then gobble those yolks. I always feel saddened to see good yolks going to waste.

Getting a good selection of flavourings definitely helps with clean cooking. That's worth a thread to itself.

I don't know about the thin-skin aspect to milk. Thick skin is typically down to water retention so if you have trouble with insulin resistance then I can see milk causing problems. Sorry, can't really help there.

I just scoop the whey onto my muesli and stir.

humm

I am gonna try 2 glass milk a day to go with at least 2 of my protein shakes . I guess it will be allright , I just need to keep my water intake still really high so I don't retain any .

About the yolk I know it is the best part and contains a lot of protein , but also a lot of fat .

5.5 g each .

3 whole eggs - 17 g fat . That is the problem . you add the low fat cheese and all of a sudden it is 30 g fat meal . Not very good if you are using carbs also . I can use it without carbs though

about the musli , you throw in there and stir and eat ? NO milk , no nothing ? plain dry cereal + whey powder ?

No, I add milk to the whey and muesli mix. Milk with every meal keeps a body healthy. Maybe I'm in the wrong thread.

If you add the yolks back in, you might not need the cheese. To add extra flavour to a morning omelette, I often throw in some finely-chopped salami or add a dribble of some sauce. Adding a splash of milk to lighten the eggs almost goes without saying.

Whole, boiled eggs, roughly chopped with some oil and garlic and strewn over lettuce can make a hearty breakfast.

Victor BR, your making too much of the eggwhites (which happens to be an excellent protein source). Buy the liquid eggwhits, measure out 1.5 cups that equivalent to 8 eggs (whites) and then throw in (1) whole egg from a carton that will last 12 days. Thats about 32-36 grams of protein......add some fat free chesse (feta , swiss, moz) and you will get an additional 5-7 grams of protein. thats a total of about 40 grams. You can take a step further and add spinach or vegetables. Mix it up a bit.......if you stick to just eating the eggwhites alone it WILL get to you.....add sh*t to it!

Search by nutrients here :
Nutrient Search Tool – NutritionData.com
High protein, low cal, etc.
Whatever you want. It'll give you some ideas. Then, go in the spice section of your supermarket and get some low-cal condiments (mustard, soy sauce, vinegar, etc). Some spices can make a simple piece of meat real tasty. Use curry on white fish and broiled, for example.

i don't really enjoy chicken or eggwhites, but i eat them b/c they are high in protein and are not calorie dense. most people don't like eating good foods, but people do it for the desired results.

what about lean ground beef or turkey?

Default Give a Little, Get a LOT!

Ground lean beef/turkey are great sources of lean meat. Not meaty enough? Add worchestershire sauce.

Now, my dear sweet Victor, you're going about this all wrong. You put time and effort into your workouts to make your muscles tear (or so I hope), but you are absolutely refusing to put any work into feeding those torn muscles to make them grow into quality mass?

Food ain't boring, I can tell you that right now, and healthy food ain't boring, either!! Instead of spending time trying to make one helping of chicken breast taste good, make enough for two weeks. It takes virtually the same amount of prep and cook time (provided you do it in the oven), but instead of getting just one helping, you can freeze and microwave until your heart's content!

Sick and tired of eggs? Don't want a lot of prep and cook time, but want to make a lot? Welcome to the egg bake!
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Break 12 eggs (6 whole, 6 whites if you prefer) into a bowl.
3. Beat with 12 tablespoons of water and 1/3 cup fat-free milk (if you're concerned about the carb-to-protein ratio, use lactose-free milk).
4. Add whatever the hell you want. Try 2 cups fresh spinach with 1/2 cup fat-free feta cheese, some salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
5. Spray a casserole dish with fat-free cooking spray. Add the egg mixture.
6. Bake 30 minutes, or until eggs are firm.

Cut 'em up, put them in individual serving dishes, and hell, make another while you're at it. If you try the spinach and feta suggestion, top with diced tomatoes before serving. You can add whatever veggies and whatever meat and whatever spices you like. I haven't seen anyone recommend soy protein...you can buy soy that's styled like ground beef to save you time cooking. Add the worchestershire sauce, cumin, black pepper, cayene pepper, and salt until it tastes like a Mexican dish. Add this to the egg mixture (cold, otherwise it'll cook the eggs prematurely), plus a handful of fresh cilantro, diced tomates, and even a bit of shredded sharp cheddar (NOT 100oz or whatever you joked. I'm talking no more than 1/4 cup), drained corn, and olives if you like them. Bake it and serve with salsa.

Now, I'm not sure about your goals here. Unless you're seriously trying to get super shredded for competition, I think you're freaking out about fats while not really paying attention to them. For example, you complain how 3 whole eggs + lowfat cheese gives you 30g of fat, but don't realize the error of having low-fat cheese on-hand. If you're watching fats, what on earth are you doing with lowfat cheese in your kitchen? They're just empty fats, honestly. At least the egg yolks provide needed nutrients (and if you buy omega-3 eggs, essential fats). You're leaving out a wealth of delicious alternatives, and I'm not sure why. What's wrong with herbs? Mustard? Vinegar? Mixing it into a salad? Even fat-free cheese.

It all boils down to what you want to feed your body. Remember, taking an extra five minutes to prepare one of the egg bakes I suggested not only adds a lot of flavor and gives you more for your invested time, but also gives you extra nutrients. You're in the gym trying to grow, you may as well fuel your body with the best you can give it.

Great post SR, but your egg bake might, just might, be enough for two meals.

I do something similar with pasta and eggs and anything else found in the cupboard, fridge or freezer.

Lea and Perrins is a great addition to eggs and... well, just about everything.

Victor,

Grab a gostosa to do your cooking

Lots of garlic, onion, and other spices.

No one said looking good was easy. Actually, my lack of appetite for good food (of course I can eat pizza and carne asade burrittos till I die) lets me cut easy than gaining.

Actually, right now I am eating turkey breast little patties marinated in garlic and peppers along with some beans with some kind of spices in it

Straw - I tried the egg thing before, but when reheating it, it was horrible (I had to use a lot of salsa). The top got all rubbery?
