Default Blood tests and the doctor

I KNOW this board will have info on this!

I was at the doctors last week for a hepatitis vaccine and the doc told me she wanted to have blood work done. Normally not a big deal except I just finished up an 8 week cycle and am starting clomid this week. I was a bit nervous about having this done but did it anyway. My HDL and liver panel was a little high (getting those numbers tomorrow). She does not know about my aas use, but I would like to have her know without causing any repercussions in doing so.

If I tell her about my use, is she legally obligated to tell the insurance company? I would like to get full blood screens done before, during, and after my next cycle and it would be really nice if insurance would pay that.

This was discussed pretty thoroughly a couple of months ago. Ulter knows all about how this works.

Your doc is not obligated to say jack to the insurer. You could ask her, before you tell her, to respect your privacy, and she should do that. But ... she may not. I told my doc back in December, after telling him I didn't want him to "chart" what I was about to tell him, and he respected that. Didn't chart a word about it. He offered to track my blood next time I cycle, but my insurance won't pick up the cost, since there's no diagnosis to tag the tests to. You'd probably have to pay out of pocket.

HDL and LFTs normally go up after a cycle. The LFTs will come right back down again. HDL might take a bit longer, but there's nothing to be concerned about there.

The best advice is unless youre having some sort of a health problem, You better not tell.
Most doctors (I hate to say "most"... but a lot of us do agree on this) are far from educated on AAS and have all of the usual prejudices ingrained in them. They quickly write off any maladies that may occur as "because of the AAS", and it may end up being hard to get an honest opinion from the doctor.
Ive had friends in this situation and their doctors missed (among other things) a stomach ulcer (in a guy who used NO orals), pnuemonia, and a few other things. The symptoms they described were basically "written off" by their respective doctors as "because of that stuff you use".
The ulcer was "diagnosed" (without any testing) as stress brought about because "the human body isnt made to move around big, heavy weight!" (ummm, ever heard of adaptive response?)
The pnuemonia was seen to be "what that stuff does to your heart and your lungs!"
(these are different guys and different doctors, BTW)

All of that aside, they dont have to notify the insurance company, but they can note it in your chart, and it isnt too hard for an insurance company to get your chart... use of gear COULD be held against you in the future if anything happened health-wise. The insurance company might get your chart (even if through some sort of court paperwork filing?) and see that note and try and deny you coverage.

I only say this so you make the best informed decision possible. The doctor will most likely not be of tremendous help to you anyway, and probobly isnt very well versed in AAS anwyay.
I usually go in knowing what tests I want and claim symptoms that will get the tests I need done preformed. Then I interpret the results myself (or barring that post them here )
