I heard this this morning and confirmed it on ESPN. Do you think there's any significance to the timing in regards to the Pats resigning Moss??? hmmm....

He had a great run. I'm sorry to see him go. Having lived in Green Bay as child and growing up under Lombardi GB is always my "other" team.

given how he played last season, i'm kinda surprised he'd retire now. though given his age and the beatings his body has taken, I can understand if its tellin him enough is enough

That's what im sayin. Since he was so openly begging the packers organization to get him a big play receiver - specifically Moss... the timing of this just has me kinda believing that since the pats resigned moss late yesterday that Brett was just like fuckit, im retiring.

He had such a good season last year, it just doesn't make sense in comparison to how Farve has approached his football career the last 5ish years.

My wife hates Green Bay for the Jimmy Mac event but has respect for Favre. I so badly hoped he'd get another ring this year.

the sports are saying he told the coach a few days ago, before Moss made up his mind (probably around the time the pack's website "accidentally" posted the retirement news a few days ago)

which is why I'm thinking his body told him it was time

either way, its a sad sad day. he might not have been the most technical passer but i'd say he's one of the greats and my favourite QB of his generation

I'm a big Giant fan and was glad the Giants beat them, but you get a class act like Brett Favre retiring, it's sad. He took the Packers to the NFC championship game. He will be missed.
