Default Super Tuesday Jr.

Well it's the big day.

The uber-liberal blue states of Texas and Ohio will go a long way towards deciding the nomination.

I have to root for Obama to win if for no better reason than so we can put Old Yeller down for good and move on to the finals, but Hillary has 9 lives, and I have a hunch this one is going to stay close up until the convention.

Let's hope it doesn't come down to super-delegates and courthouses.

its making a lot of the news up here, but I'm wondering how the suppposed *wink wink* to Canada regarding NAFTA just being political posturing in Ohio is making the rounds down there

I think you're wrong about Senator Clinton, Kabeetz. If she doesn't win both Texas and Ohio, which looks unlikely, she'll withdraw by the end of the week.

She doesn't need to make a lot of enemies in the Democratic Party. She's young enough to run again, you know. Or to seek a Supreme Court seat. Now there's something that should give MidLife a nightmare !!! LOL.

I agree Bjaarki, I don't know that she is capable of seeing the writing on the wall though. Hopefully she does the right thing, I have a lot of respect for her. What could be most damaging is if they split texas and Ohio, continue the trend, and she gets into the convention down just a hundred delegates or so, and then uses her political capital to buy the nomination.

It would be another string of disappointment in party politics. I'm putting the cart before the horse though... hopefully she gets both, the media jumps back on the bandwagon and the momentum takes her to the nomination, or Obama closes the job tonight and H.C. bows out gracefully.

She'd make a great V.P. as well, no question about it!

Aren't the Supreme Court justices nominated after they serve in the lower courts? I mean unless of course they are a close personal friend of the President.

I agree there is already grumbling coming from the DNC about this protracted fight hurting their chances in Nov.

she brings a lot of baggage along with her, Bill amongst other things, so I just don't see a VP position working.

Because the Constitution does not set forth any qualifications for service as a Justice, the President may nominate anyone to serve.
they still have to get past the confirmation though

I think you are all foolish to count her out. She could very well be nominee when its all said and done. It aint over til its over.

I wasn't talking about the rules but rather the protocol used in order to get confirmation.

It's really not going to matter who the dem nominee is. I was on board with Obama even though I am a Rebublican but the more I listen to him closely the more I hear him saying nothing. He says he was against the Iraq war often but that's really it. No substance. I do think he's very bright and has charisma like crazy but when he faces McCain he's not going to fair well. People trust McCain and even though everybody WANTS change most people FEAR change. Fear is a much stronger emotion than desire IMO. It's the main reason Bush was elected to a second term - the fear of change, and of the unknown. 4 years from now I think Obama wins in a blowout because McCain won't be running for a second term but in my opinion Obama's time is not now.

Ulter, there have been a million supreme court justices with no experience as judges. A few haven't even been lawyers, I believe.

Hillary is too polarizing and would never be confirmed as a supreme court justice. Those spots are reserved for the most brilliant minds in regards to constitutional law. I don't think there has ever been a supreme court justice that wasn't at some point a lawyer and I can't remember any that weren't judges.

Brilliant minds? I guess you've never heard of Justices Alito, Roberts & Thomas. And I don't mean for their views, I mean for their credentials as it applies to constitutional law. They graduated from the Meyers School of Law with honors

I loved Thomas' 60 Minutes interview though, I think he's a good man. And that's about as much as you can ask for these days.

looks like it was McCains' night all around. Not only did he wrap up the GOP nomination, but Hillary won so the Dem's will continue with their infighting for a while longer

now the fun of "Guess the VP" is gonna start. given his centrist position, I'd guess he'd go with a Romney or Huckabee type right winger to help him gain some popularity from that end of the party

I think it would be foolish not to think Hillary is going to bring this to the convention. She has won all the key states.
