Default Going Crazy

I looked at my diet after someone suggested I might not be getting enough to eat...and I would agree.

But at the same time, how much is enough? For someone who's "fairly active" I guess you could call it, how much is feeding my body, and how much is just eating?

I've been analyzing my stomach all morning. Am I really hungry? Yesterday, I ate some eggs and veggies for breakfast, had a protein shake after my workout, and didn't eat again until around 8pm...just a salad and udon noodle soup. That was it.

My concern is that I'm going to overeat, even if I break down my meals like I know I should be eating them. I'm just not that hungry anymore. When I lifted, I ate like a damn horse because it felt like I hadn't eaten in weeks, even if I just ate a full meal 2 hours prior. Now it feels like I can eat something in the morning and not need to eat the rest of the day, more or less.

Part of it is my goals. I want to gain muscle, but I know that I'm not doing enough to gain a lot of muscle, so if I hit the scale at 5lbs heavier the next week, I know it won't be muscle causing that gain.

I don't want to fall into dangerous eating habits one way or the other. I need help!

It has nothing to do if you are hungry or not. It's all about feeding your body what it needs, not what it wants.

Nice start on breakfast, and the protein drink after the workout is good too, but all those hours in between your body has to be fed to keep it from , basically, eating it's own muscle tissue.

Try taking in around 300 calories every 2-3 hours, all day. If you are eating quality food (not refined sugars or breads) you WILL NOT get fat.

The idea behind this is your body will use at least that many calories just to function. If your body is using the calories then it is not storing them as fat.

I'm NOT the guru on this subject, but I've used this method for years and I know it works. Try to take in protein with your meals. Fruits and vegetables are healthy too.

I usually do well with the protein/carbs, I think I'm too hung-up on the idea of putting on more weight. I'll give your method a shot.

Part of me wants to go vegetarian. I know that I can still get complete proteins from dairy, eggs, soy, and quinoa, so I'm not concerned about that.

im curious of the notion of going vegetarian as being THE way to go for a healthy diet...

I'm not saying its ridiculous nor am I trying to say its bad in any way, it's just I've seen alot of my friends (all females) turning vegetarian in hopes of losing weight.

I just don't see how its supposed to work.

I'm with you on that one. I feel sometimes that I should go mostly veggo just because it seems more...natural to me. I know humans eat meat and I have no qualms with that at all. I just seem to operate better when I reduce my intake of meat. I feel less weighed down, more alert, that kind of thing. I have no problem eating meat, the "morality" thing, either. I don't think it's evil to eat animals or anything like that. It's just a personal choice, and I mean that to the fullest because it's based on my opinion of my body

It's a fact that vegetarians and vegans can most certainly be fat! The change alone won't cure anyone. Hell, french fries are vegan, and we all know how healthy those are!
