Default Polycythemia

What do you guys who are on long-term do with regards to keeping a check on your red blood cell counts? Do you have your doctors check periodically or do you ignore the issue?

How do you resolve the issue once detected? How common is it as a problem? Does it spiral out of hand or do you simply reach a fresh stable level, depending on your test dose?

My doc gives me a CBC every time we do blood work. When the RBC gets too high, donating blood is the quick fix for that. In general he recommends donating every three months or so.

to add, I think it is very common as AAS can have many affects on the blood. I'm guessing it could spiral out of hand if the RBC gets too high for too long. I have also noticed that my BP has improved since dontating. So it is definately somthing to consider.

I don't have a problem with it unless I go crazy with Eq.

I wonder if that is the reason why some top level BB's smoke cigs? Ruhl?

Probably just addiction, but it does lower Hct/HgB levels.

I want to get a cbc test done and see what mine is. Mine has always been normal or high-normal in the past while on Anadrol.

My GF is a phlebotomist (sp)....maybe it might come in handy

It was after close to a year being on TRT that my RBC and Hgb responded with a reading slightly elevated above the range. This was only 200mg/wk.

Interesting thoughts about the cigarettes BMJ. Maybe it's a german thing cause I heard Dennis Wolf is a chiminey lol. I would think it would be healthier and easier to just donate blood, so most likely it is just addiction.

I have had blood tests but do not remember if it was elevated or non-existent.

Either way I ignored it. I guess I will get a blood test again in 2008.

The last bunch of tests I had, some one explained to me that my liver was out whack, which even concerned me.

So I repeated the test at a separate lab, they said my liver was fine. That was a year ago.
