Default Need some supplement help here.....

Need some advice on supplements to aid my powerlifting. I already take some of the usual suspects, glutamine, creatine, Udo's oil, protein, AAS, and a lot of food.

As I'm getting older, I'm about to add in a Glucosamine/Chondroitin product.

What else would you guys recommend?

I'm not sure what your Udo's contains, but if it doesn't have a fish oil in it I'd highly recommend some of that as an addition.

Along with the glucosamine/chondroitin, I'd look into MSM as well. I take a generic from Whole Foods that works fairly well for me.

G, I take a glucosamine/chondroitin/msm blend that I get at Wal-mart called Triple Flex. It's great stuff. I also take Coral Calcium. Those are the only things different from you that I take and it's enough. SS, RB

Cissus Quadrangularis is worth looking into. I take about three grams a day of this and I have noticed improvements in join pain and since starting it. I buy it from trueprotein. I think a popular brand is SuperCissus.

Look at this....

Cissus Quadrangularis (CQ), aka Veld Grape, is a houseplant used in Indian folk medicine to heal fractures (3, 4, 15, 16, 18, 20-23), and in other cultures to treat, for instance, gastrointestinal disorders (8-11) and even hemorrhoids(14). Cissus also has anti-oxidant and anti-microbial effects (2, 13), anti-inflammatory actions (8-10) including the reduction of tissue infiltration by immune cells(9), a hallmark of tissue injury, and similarly, analgesic (pain reducing) actions(14). CQ contains high levels of vitamin C and carotene(2) as well as the phytochemical quercitin(17), an anti-inflammatory(19), vaso-dilating flavanoid found in grapes(5), and beta-sitosterol(17), a cholesterol-based compound that also has anti-inflammatory(6) as well as immunomodulating (cortisol reducing) effects(1) and possibly the ability to reduce glucocorticoid receptor expression(7).

A study with beta-sitosterol demonstrated that this constituent of CQ reduced the stress on the immune system as well as the elevation in cortisol brought on by running a marathon(1), suggesting that beta-sitosterol and CQ may have an adaptogenic effect. CQ may also aid in body fat loss and improve related health parameters such as blood lipid profile. Oben et al.(12, 13) found that, compared to a placebo group, obese individuals taking CQ (600mg daily), with or without a formulation including green tea extract, lost bodyweight and reduced blood LDL ("bad") cholesterol, triglycerides and resting blood glucose. CQ also increased serotonin levels in the blood, which may have reduced appetite, as well as creatinine, suggesting that CQ may have an anabolic effect. (An increase in blood creatinine level suggests increased skeletal muscle mass(24, 25).) Studies of CQ's effect on bone growth also support the notion of CQ as an anabolic agent(3).

agree on the cissus.

I have tried several gluc/chondr/msm products, the one that works best for me is the osteo bi-flex brand with gluc/chondr/msm blend and their "joint shield" or whatever. It has worked better than others I've taken.

I also take the cissus, and plenty of fish, flax, olive oils too.

The Udo's is a blend that's got fish oils in it, lots of Omega 3, 6, and 9.

Cool, so now I can add:
Chondroitin/Glucosamine with msm, and
Cissus Quandrangularis.

I'll google supercissus and see if I can't find it online.

Thansk for the feedback fellas! Anything else?

Just curious, are you doing anything for liver protection, like Tyler's or some milk thistle? Those might help, especially considering the age factor.

Haven't been taking anything, used to take the animal paks but I haven't taken them in quite some time. The Tyler's sounds pretty good.
