good advice, 45. It happened to me also at first, but I was only at 175. You can salvage the melted stuff by drying it in place, taking out the non-melted portion, and re-suspending it in heet, and extracting it in H2O again. Pain in the ass, but salvagable.

There was nothing left but a fused filter. Actually stuck to the pan also. I chucked it.
Back to the lab next week.

Keeping the oven door slightly open is VERY important here. Especially if you don't own a convection oven.

A couple more tips, or maybe warnings. I gave this method a try yesterday and every thing went smooth until, I decided to bake another 15 minutes @ 200 degrees F. I melted my entire product. WTF. Warning do not over dry in the oven above 175 degrees F. You need to constantly check during the latter part of the drying process.

Lab Beakers are a godsend. Looking at LD pictures, I noticed a 600 ml and 1000 ml beaker.

I suggest you get two each of these. Rinsing and filtering will be easier. Speaking of rinsing and filtering. These processes take a long time. Liquid just does not flow through the filter quickly. It took me about 7 hours before It was ready for drying.

I'll try again next Sunday.

I found a better way to filter...when doing you filtering I found that getting paint measureing cups that are plastic are really easy to use.... get a bunch they are the 967mL instead of keep having to take the paper clips off and on and worry about spilling and losing your yield ( I did it twice) I poked 18inch gauge needle holes in the bottom of the plastic cups and then the solution and the gallon of water that you filter will just flow out the bottom of the cup....so no need to keep taking off the paper clips on and off and on and off....try it, it made it alot easier and less stressful
