Default deadlift technique

When I was a powerlifter, the deadlift was my best lift. I pulled nearly 500 lbs weighing 148 lbs natural (but in my early twenties). I'm a weightlifter now, and don't do deadlifts as much, but I still love them.

One thing I've learned is that if you keep your back absolutely straight when you pull, you will not get nearly as so re. You will work your legs (hams especially) a lot more in the pull, but you will still build incredible thickness in the traps and back. However, your poundage will drop dramatically.

In short, the technique that gets the most weight off the floor MA Y not build the most muscle.
