So now whenever I am getting a glute shot with a 1 1/2 3cc I do that. I put my hand in front of me and make two fists and alternate squeezing them, sometimes to the beat of a song and I don't hardly notice the shot I am getting.

When I do my own I have no such tricks since it take two hands for me to do the shot, because I hold the barrel still with one while using the plunger with the other.
Oh yeah, that's a good one. I had a nurse tell me a similar thing. Her method is; touch your forefinger to your thumb like an OK sign. Instead of pushing your two fingers together flesh on flesh you push your thumbnail into your forefinger and press hard. It causes just enough pain that you can concentrate on it.

Of course my favorite, when you are giving someone else a shot is to tell them you're going to count to three, and then jab on two or even on one. Their tension builds waiting on you to say three, but instead you hit them with 1 (jab)
