Default

Here's my own oatmeal bar recipe I concocted about a month ago.

Ingredients:

2 cups of rolled or cut oats.
3 TBs brown sugar
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1 tsp of cinnamon
3 TBs of organic unsurphered ("blackstrap") molasses
3 TBs butter
1 tsp of baking soda
1/2 tsp of sea salt
2 whole jumbo eggs

Cooking Directions:

Omit the baking soda if you want them more crispy & waferlike. Pour into pyrex dish at least 8" X 12" in size, and pat down evenly with spatula. Cook at 350 for 15 or at 375 for 20 if you're trying to get the crispy, wafer style.

Optional Stuff:

I've added some of my unflavored Bioplex whey protein in a few batches and it didnt effect the taste, but you'll need to add at least one additional jumbo egg white to keep them from being too dry and crumbly. Also, crush a few calcium carbonate pills into your mix and you have a complete electrolyte serving as well as protein and carbs.

Nutritional Counts:

11 grams protein (with added whey)
366mg potassium
7 grams fat
19 grams sugar (14 refined sugar, 5 molasses)
96 mg of sodium chloride
18 grams complex carbs
calcium (variable)
